Dear Parents/Carers, This year everyone at Corsham Primary School is once again invited to participate in World Book Day celebrations, which will take place on Friday 3rd March 2017. World Book Day is a celebration in more than 100 countries around the world of authors, illustrators, books and most importantly, it’s a celebration of reading. We would like to invite you to join us in helping your child to make the most of this special occasion by coming to school dressed in the costume of their favourite character from any story or information book. We would also like all of the children to bring in a favourite book which they can share with their class as part of this year’s ‘Big Book off’ which will be happening across the whole school along with a range of other reading related activities. Thanks to the generosity of National Book Tokens Ltd, each child will receive a book voucher, which they can take to our local bookshop to get £1 off any book that costs over £2.99 or to swap for one of the ten (exclusive, new and completely free) £1 World Book Day books. The children may also choose to spend the book voucher at the School Book Fair which is taking place on the following dates: Broadwood Thursday 16 th March Friday 17 th March (a change to the date previously advertised in the February newsletter) Pound Pill Thursday 16 th March Tuesday 21 st March The day is all about getting children closer to the books and authors they already love, and letting them discover new books and authors for future reading. For more information please see the website www.worldbookday.com. We look forward to seeing all the fabulous costumes. Dear children,

In celebration of this year’s World Book Day we are pleased to inform you that you have been invited to a magical Hogwarts themed lunch to be held at Corsham Primary School on Friday 3rd March. Please send any menu ideas to our house elves by owl so they can speak to your lunchtime team.

On the day you will be sorted into your house (Hufflepuff, Ravenclaw, Gryffindor or Slytherin) and will be asked to order a hot dinner from the Hogwarts’ menu or bring your own packed lunch to the feast.

We look forward to celebrating World Book Day with you.

Yours sincerely,

Minerva McGonagall

Deputy Headmistress
