I want to thank the Kentlyn community for being so welcoming and I have loved being at Kentlyn over the last 6 months. I would like to thank everyone in the Kentlyn community for the wonderful support we receive. Our students really are privileged to come to such an amazing and dynamic school with a supportive community. Even though we are in our last week of the year our school is still a hive of activity. On Friday I had the privilege of attending our presentation day assembly. The students were outstanding. Special mention must go to Mrs Grover and all the staff for their organisation, without their hard work Friday would not have been such a success. Finally, I would like to wish everyone a wonderful Christmas and a safe New Year. We will be starting the 2017 school as 6 classes. We are still 2 students away from forming a 7 th class. If you know of anyone in our area still needing to enrol can you, please encourage them to do so. With our numbers currently only having the 6 classes will mean very large class sizes for our school. We are trying to avoid this and hoping for the two enrolments that we require. Should you have any questions regarding this organisation please do not hesitate to contact the school. The last day for students for 2016 is; Friday 16th December

Students in Years 1-6 resume for 2017 on;

Monday 30th January

Students in Kindergarten 2017 will start on; Thursday 2nd February

The last two days of Term 4 are designated as School Development Days, set aside for teacher professional learning. This year the Kentlyn staff chose to swap both of their days and participated in two evening workshops as well as Saturday 26th November for a planning conference. As such Kentlyn Public School will be closed and non-operational on Monday 19th and Tuesday 20th December.

I am very sad to announce that we have a number of staff leaving Kentlyn at the end of the year;

• Mr Saunders • Miss Swales • Ms Green • Miss Hackett

I would like to sincerely thank these amazing staff for all the work and commitment over the years to support the education of all students at Kentlyn and wish them all the very best in the future both personally and professionally.

Just a reminder to our new families starting Kindergarten in 2017. Birth certificates and immunisations records need to be presented at the office before children can start.

On Wednesday 7th December we celebrated our Principals Morning Tea. Congratulations to all students who attended this special Morning Tea to celebrate earning 10 merit certificates.

Congratulations to all our students who received Achievement Awards at our Presentation Day Assembly. Special congratulations to Jayden Gerrard who received a Citizenship Award from Dr Michael Freelander and Mitchell Lane who received an Outstanding Achievement award from Mr Greg Warren Thank you for your support.

On Tuesday 13 December 2016 years 3 and 4 headed to Sydney for their Hyde Park Barracks and Taronga ZooSnooze excursion. Year 4 headed to the Opera House first for a look at the harbour and a walk through the Royal Botanical Gardens. While year 3 explored Hyde Park Barracks.

At Hyde Park Barracks students took on the role of convicts. Where able to rest in hammocks, build brick constructions, make clay bricks and learn about convict life, rats and all!

Taronga Zoo was amazing seeing the animals at night and seeing behind the scenes.
