KS2 Home learning tasks Weeks 17 and 18
Dear KS2 children,
This is the last learning grid of this school year. It is crazy how time flies and
how much you have achieved during these last few challenging months. You have
definitely proven that each and every one of you is truly amazing! Every week,
you amazed us, teachers, with your hard work and perseverance. In our opinion,
at KCS, it is the children who are the true heroes of this pandemic. You have
been patient and resilient, you have smiled at difficult times and showed your
bravest face every day.
Together we achieved many things this year; we moved to a new building, Murray
House, and we made it look spectacular. We filled it with amazing learning, love
and most importantly laughter. We worked together as a team, we adapted
ourselves to challenging situations each day and we learned how to enjoy every
moment regardless of the difficulties.
We must admit, at times, it has been challenging, but together we survived it.
We looked after one another and kept going without looking back. Great work
guys! It has been an absolute pleasure teaching you this year and we are really
going to miss you!
Parents & Carers, thank you, thank you and thank you again, for believing in us
and teaching your children at home! We are aware that you had to go through
several bumps along the road, but you still made it happen. Without your
support, your children wouldn’t have made such an amazing progress!

plan and write diary entries as different

you are writing about the day in the life of a real
person or character. The diary needs to be
written from their point of view and interesting
to read. First read Diary Writing Powerpoint 1
and then return to the powerpoint slides for the
activity. At the end are some short excerpts from
Diary of a Wimpy Kid for you to enjoy.

you will be writing a diary entry from the point of
view of an animal using all the diary features we
have covered so far.

Experiment: Orange FizzInstructions:Cut the orange into slices or peel separateinto sectionsDip a slice or section into the baking sodaTake a bite! As you chew, it should start tobubble in your mouth
How does it work? When acids and bases mix, you get someexciting chemistry! Oranges and othercitrus fruits are filled with citric acid. It is asafe acid, and it’s what gives oranges, lemons, and limes their sourness. Bakingsoda is a base, the opposite of an acid. It’salso safe, but doesn’t taste very good onits own, and will give you a tummy ache ifyou eat a lot of it. As the citric acid andbaking soda mix, it makes millions ofcarbon dioxide bubbles, the same gas youbreathe out, and the same one that makessoda so fizzy.Video of experiment here!https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qWBxKXoJ8ZU&feature=youtu.be
