indicating the user has to wait. Pease do not perform any other operation until the light goes off.

◎ When using the products as storage device, it supports both FAT and NTFS format. But when

using as HDD player, file systems should be FAT format (can’t be NTFS format)in primary

disk-partition(there should be no extended partitions).

◎ When connected to the computer as a storage device, many separated files will be produced.

This may affect the playing of video. The user can use different partitions of the disk to separate

storage and video playing functions.

Hard disk format and installation

<Formatting the HDD>

1. Switch on BR2008 power.

2. A suggestive message will display if the HD was not formatted, “HD didn’t format, do you want to format”.

3. Click “ENTER” and select “YES”, then begin formatting HDD,If not will exit operation.

(Note : Formatted HDD didn’t suggest format operation)

﹡Formatting on a PC(Win2000/xp)

Format your DVR using FAT32(max file size limited to 32GB).

Formatting on a Mac(OS X)

Format your DVR using MS-DOS File System and support the maximum of 4 separate partitions.

<HDD Installation>

1.Remove screws from right and left side of the DVR.

2.Remove the rear cover and baffle plate

4.Take out the mainboard and install the HDD. Fix it with screws.

5. Put the mainboard into the outer cover and fix it with two set screws and the panel after the HDD has been

installed properly.

<Connect to the computer>

Switch on your computer and start the operating system, install the USB driver software if you are using

WINDOWS98. For details please go to <Installation of the USB driver software under Saving Mode>.

● Supply power for device(as below):

1. Plug the adaptor into the power receptacle on the DVR. This applies to HDD's all sizes.

(Ensure that the USB cable is NOT connected to the computer before power is supplied to the product through

the AC adaptor. Otherwise the product will use power supplied through the USB instead through the AC

adaptor.

2. Supply power for the device through single USB port on the computer (not through AC adapter). The capacity

of power supply in this way is relatively low, which is not recommended unless the memory capacity of the

Hard Disk of the product is less than 20G.

3. Supply power for the device through TWO USB ports on the computer .This way will be recommended if the

capacity of the Hard Disk of the product is less than 40G.

● The device will be found and detected automatically by the computer to which it has been connected through a

USB cable and related setup program (e.g. disk number) will be run. Then the device can be used as a

peripheral storage device of the computer.

● Install USB driver.

◆WINME, WIN2000,WIN XP OS:

You can use the default USB driver from OS, and no installation is needed.

◆ WIN98 OS:

Insert the driver disc and execute:X:\win98\setup.exe.The letter “X” represents the driver letter.

● Remove the USB hardware secure.

◆ Click the plug and play icon on taskbar of computer to stop USB setting follow the prompt.

◆Disconnect USB cable from computer side or DVR side.( After disconnecting the USB cable with computer, the

DVR into sleeping mode if supplied the power through AC adapter, then the power of HDD will be shut

down.).

◆ IR is remote receive ◆ To use a remote controller, the transmitter window should face to the receiver panel on the product. The

transmitted angle is 60 degree and distance should be less than 5 meters.

◆ Do not drop or damp the remote controller.

◆ Keep the remote receive away from sources of direct sunlight when working.

◆ When the battery in remote controller is low ,you can replacing the new one in time.

﹡Change the battery in remote control(as below)

◆ Using your thumb sticks on the side of battery cover(Fig., 1), and push on right side. In the mean time, using

your index finger sticks on the top of battery cover (Fig., 2), and pull out the battery cover.

◆ According to the indication, put the (+) of the battery into the slot .Make sure that the battery is facing up.

◆ Insert the outer cover of battery back to the remote control.

[Getting started]

● The power indicator light will be on after the DVR is turned on for over 1 second., press key for over 3


seconds, then the DVR will be switched on..

● Please pull out the insulated film in the bottom of the remote when using the remote for the first time.

● One movement later, media menu will be shown on the screen.

● Press“ ” “ ” “ ” “ ”to move cursor, and use “ENTER” button to confirm selection(enters media

library, enters file folder, or starts playing files).

● Press BROWSER button return to the root directory.

● Press“ ”button return to the parent directory.

● Press“■” button to stop playing.

● Press button to enter or exit from standby states.

● Disconnect the device from power if no use for a long time.

1．Main menu

1.1 Main menu

After turning on the DVR, you will see the main menu：

1.2 Operation illustration

1.2.1 Selection Function

1) User can select the function icon with “ ”、“ ” 、“ ” 、“ ” key on the remote controller

in the Main menu.

2) After that，press “ENTER” and get into the corresponding unit.

3)Users can press “IMAGE”, ”MUSIC”, ”MOVIE”, or ”PREVIEW” key to access the relevant function.

For example, to press “IMAGE” key, system will show out all pictures on the screen. User can select

relevant picture directly, then press “ENTER” key to confirm.

1.2.2 Setting menu

1. Press “MENU” on the remote controller key, then press the “ ”、“ ” to select, after that press

“ENTER” key to confirm.


1.2.3 Setting introduction

Basic operation：Press“ ”、“ ” to select，press“ ”、“ ”to change settings, press “EXIT” to return to the

main menu.

Display：On this interface, you can set Language, TV standard, Scan Mode.

System：On this interface, can set Show All File, Media Browse Mode, Update Firmware, Firmware Version.


Option：On this interface, you can set Active BK、Equalizer、Slide interval.

Clock: On this interface, can set DVR current “year” 、“month” 、“date” 、“hour” 、“minute”.

Scheduler：On this interface，you set record with time. Press “ENTER” to confirm after settings operation.

2．Document Manager Menu


2.1 Operation illustration

On the main menu, select image, film, music and document manager, you will see the document manager

menu.

1、“/C” express under the root directory of the first partition.

2、“1/80” indicates that there are 80 files under this directory, with the first file highlighted.

2.1.1 Document display illustration：

1）On the main menu，press “MENU” key, you can see the menu, select “system” item.

2）You can select "directory mode" or "media library mode" to browse the media.

To select directory mode, click a movie file, a picture file, or a music file, then the selected file will be

classified and listed.

To select media browse mode, click a movie file, a picture file, or a music file, then the selected file will be

listed based on its postfix.

Note：

Supporting track exchanging file format (.VOB).

Supporting all movie files with subtitle exchanging (.subit )

2.2 File type

Document manager shows the different icons for different file types, as below.

2.1.2 Read document operation：

1）Users can select the document by“ ”、“ ” on the Document manager menu.

2）Press “ENTER” to open the documents(enter the corresponding function)or get into the lists.

3）Press “EXIT” can go back to the main menu from the Document manager menu.

4）Press “BROWSER” can return to the root directory.

5）Press“ ”return to the parent directory.

2.1.3 Create or delete Document folders operation


Create dir：

1）Select the appointed document list，then press the “MENU”, you can see the menu, select “create dir”,

press “ENTER” to create a new file.

2）The “DIR_XXX” is the serial number which increates automatically of the saving file.

Delete file: select the appointed document, then press the “MENU”, you can see the menu, select “delete”,

choose to operate according to instruction.

2.1.4 Copy or paste files operation：

Select the appointed file, the press the “MENU”，select “copy”, pressing “ENTER”. Open any other file,

pressing “MENU”，the select “paste”，pressing “ENTER”, you can copy the appointed file to any other

document.

2.1.5 All copy or delete document operation：

1）Choose the appointed the document, then pressing the “MENU”，select “all copy”, press “ENTER”，you

can total copy this document to any other document.

2）Select the appointed document，then press the “MENU”，select “all delete”, choose to operate according

to instruction.

3．Viewing photos menu

When user choose the picture in document manager, then press “confirm” key into viewing single photo

menu.

3．1 Viewing single photos menu

Operation illustration：

1） Press“ ”、“ ”can change the picture to the front one or the next one.

2） Press “THUMB” can get into the 3X3 browse menu.

3） Press “EXIT” can go back to the document manager menu.

4） Press “ROTATE” can clockwise rotate the photograph.

5) Press “ZOOM” can enter the picture zoomed menu.

6） Press “SLIDE” can go into the slide mode.

7） Press “EFFECT” can select the picture effect.

8） Press “INTERVAL” can set the slide interval of the picture.


9） Press “INFO” can show or close the picture information.

10) Press “MENU” can show the menu, as below:

3.2 3X3 browse menu

On the single photo browse menu,when press“THUMB”to enter 3X3 browse menu:

1. The left-top icon is the file name of the selected picture in the green panel.

2. The right top is the icon of the 1st page of the 16 icon pages(each page <= 9 pictures)

3. The selected picture file is under the green panel which is a 3.3x3 icon, Press "play" key to enter full window

mode.

Operation Illustration:

1) You can move cursor by using“ ”、“ ”,and then choose pictures that you wanted.

2) User “THUMB” key can change into one browser menu, and then the picture you choose will be

displayed alone.

3) Press “INFO” can show or close the information of the appointed picture on the screen.

4） Press “MENU” can show the function list, press “EXIT” come back to the parent menu.

3.3 Magnifying photos menu

Illustration: Press “ ”“ ” to select function in the menu, then press

confirm key to run

Picture info (1) “Picture info.” will display picture info on TV, or press “INFO”.

Slide play (2) “Slide play” will play the picture automatically according to the fix interval.

Or press “SLIDE” key.

Special effects (3) “Special effects” can show the special effects of the picture, or press

“EFFECT” key.

Setting (4) “Display setting” can set the display options

3X3 browse (5) Press “EXIT” to exit the menu.


Operation Illustration：

1）On the single photo browse menu，press “ZOOM” get into the picture zoomed menu(2X)，pressing

“ZOOM” again, enter the picture zoomed menu(4X).

2） Use“ ”、“ ” 、“ ”、“ ”you can look over pictures.

3） The pane on the right bottom is sketch , green area is the current view.

4）Use the “EXIT“ to return to an unmagnified view.

3．4 Rotate photo

Press “ROTATE”, you can rotate the picture by 90 degrees.

3.5 Slide view

Note: Press “SLIDE”, can show the slides. Press “INTERVAL” can select the interval for playing the slide within

2-8 seconds.


4．Play video menu

After selecting the “MOVIE” icon and pressing “ENTER”, the users will go to the play video menu:

6．Recording video menu

6.1 Pre-recording video menu

If you want to record the DV or DVD video output equipment，you can take the connection as page 9.

6.2 When choosing the “record” and press the “ENTER” key at the main menu, then you could enter into the

record preview or on the main menu, press “REC.” to record directly.

Operation Illustration：

1) Press “MENU” to open the menu of the record parameter, where you can set the: to start record or not while

entering recording mode; recording quality; setup timer for recording; recording timer, etc.

2)Use the “REC” key to run the record，and enter into the record menu. Press“‖/‖ ”key to pause the

record ,press again can recover the record.

3) Use“■” to exit to preview menu.

< Operation illustration for Schedule recording>

1）Adjust the DVR time to the current time。

2）On the main menu，use “MENU” to select “Scheduler”, press “ENTER” to confirm，you will enter into the

schedule recording menu.

3）Press “Right” can select the schedule recording status, pressing“ ”can delete the selection.

4) Press“ ”、“ ”can change the status.

5 )Use “ENTER” to confirm the setting.

Note: On scheduler recording ,please select the standby but not turn off the power.

Note: When use auto timer recording mode, others will be ignored.

6.1.2 Save

Those recorded movies will be saved under this directory, MOVIE/REC, in the first partition of the HD.

The file naming rule is yr_ month_ date_ time, e.g. "2008_3_13_10_30.AVI". System will use long naming

rule which adds hr_ min_ sec into original naming rule to identify recorded data in a minute.

6.1.3 Save

DVR can show the status with two LED during the recording:

（1） Rec. Indicator

（2） Err Indicator

Note：

1．If the hard disk is full during the recording, that will be show as follow” The disk is full! Press any key to

exit.”

2．If the saved file is larger than 2GB or more than 1 hour, on otter file will be created to continue recording.

6.2 For TV programs recoding, connecting TV and DVR shown below.

6.2.1 Operation illustration:

1. Users connect video I/O equipment as show on Page10.

2. Select cable input or other inputs on your TV, then play your recorded movie file or TV program.

3．Here is ready to record. You may just press the “REC” key; the record is running at that time. For the state

watch of the record, the record LED is the way. The record LED will be glint during the record with the

key “REC” pressed.

4．Press key “■”or “EXIT” to stop recording.

7、Updates Firmware

BR2008 can update firmware, operation illustration as follow：

1、 Change the name of the update firmware file to PMP.BIN。

2、 Copy this file to the root list.

3、 Hold the power button.

4、 On the main menu, then press “MENU”，you will see the menu as follow:

5、 Select “system”，and get into the interface to update firmware.
