April, 1980 Dear Cousins, Happy anniversary! One hundred years ago our ancestors crossed the Atlantic Ocean from Ireland to America. By 1980 the clan has grown to roughly 800 members (at last count) spread across the United States and beyond. A reunion will be held in Conception, Missouri, the weekend of June 27-29, 1980, to celebrate a century in America and a book about the family is being published. By its nature the book will deal with the history of the family. We thought this youth directory would highlight the younger generation and in the process allow everyone to get a head start on meeting each other before the reunion in June. Everyone in the family born between 1949 and 1961 was asked to write something about himself/herself and send a photo. These arrived in January-March and you have the results before you all 120 plus of them. Inevitably someone was overlooked in our mailing, but rest assured we did our best. Thank you's are in order for those who helped this project become a reality. First and foremost, thanks to the many donors for defraying the printing and postage costs. Next, thanks to Jeannine Power for editing, typing and helping with layout and format, to Susan Tobin for her help in editing the responses, to Julie Holek and Donn Murphy for designing the cover, and to the Tobin-Cummins Homecoming Committee for their suggestions and encouragement. Finally, thanks to all those who responded. Without their cooperation this project would not have been possible. We hope you enjoy reading about the family. See you in June in person. Sincerely, Terrence M. Tobin
