Dear Barnwell Parents, We are so excited to have your family as part of our Barnwell community for the 2017-2018 school year. Barnwell Elementary School has a great reputation for incredible parent support and participation, but we all realize that public schools rely on fundraising to bridge the gap between what the county is able to provide and what our parents and children need and expect. We need your help. So how can you help us? First, start by supporting the Barnwell PTA Annual Fundraising Campaign. We had 76% of our Barnwell families participate last year. This is more than any other school in our area and says a lot about our Barnwell Community. Not only did this campaign cover academic enrichment and teacher support initiatives, but also your donations allowed the PTA to cover additional resources to assist teachers and its students. Based on the feedback of the Barnwell teachers and administration and continued needs for the upcoming school year, our “Annual Fundraising” campaign has a goal of 85% of our families to donate to the PTA. Next, our PTA welcomes volunteers to help and work at our amazing events that we host for our school. You can volunteer to be a Room Parent, Committee Chair or even a Board Member. We want and need your support and involvement! This year we have chosen not to run a membership drive alongside our Annual Fundraising Campaign. The reason we chose to do this is because the membership drive sends over $3,000 in membership dues to Georgia PTA. We feel it will be best to keep all the funds raised here at Barnwell. Therefore, we would like to have 100 % of the money stay at school to benefit our students. If you would still like to become a PTA Member, this option will be available separately. Our goal is to be transparent with our funds and present all budget information to all Barnwell Families. Barnwell PTA spends $109 per student throughout the school year. We are asking that you please consider renewing your support of the Barnwell PTA by making a minimum donation of $109 per student to cover our needs. The benefits of this one time donation is we don’t have to do multiple PTA fundraisers throughout the year. This is it. No donation to this campaign is too large or too small. We encourage you to find a donation level that fits your budget and then, simply write a check! Any amount is greatly appreciated and we would love to see 100% participation from our Barnwell families. The Barnwell PTA theme this year is “PAWSitively Barnwell... Bringing PAWSitive change to our school!” We saw PAWSitive Change at Barnwell all year long and want to continue that change and impact in this 2017 - 2018 school year. What make Barnwell PTA stand out is the support we receive from each family. We have wonderful volunteers that provide countless hours planning events like Father/Daughter Dance, Mother/Son Bingo, Barnival, Artist Day, STEM Week, All Pro DADS and many more. We have fabulous Room Parents that help organize classroom activities, including class parties and the parents/ grandparents favorite coveted Mystery Reader. With your donation to the PTA, the funds generated are used to support every student's success at Barnwell. Our mission is to make every child’s potential a reality by engaging and empowering families and communities to advocate for all children. We are a group of parents, teachers, and other child advocates who are interested in making a difference for the education, health and welfare of children. The primary focus of a PTA is to partner with the school to provide students what they need to be successful. Barnwell Elementary PTA is a 501c (3) organization and therefore, your donation is tax deductible and may even be matched by your employer. Family Events: Carnival, Father/ Daughter Dance, Mother/ Son
Bingo & Community Events Operational Expenses:

2016-2017 PTA Funds Several Academic Enrichment Initiatives
Besides the programs we have all grown to love, such as Accelerated Reader, Reflections, Artist Day, STEM week, Red Ribbon Week, Junior Achievement, we were to able to support other Academic Enrichment
initiatives. As part of our continued commitment to help enrich the academics for the teachers and students, we were able to help supply
manipulatives for the Math Resource Center to align with the Personalized Learning Model. In addition, we purchased Technology
subscriptions to aid our students in their learning with the new devices that will arrive this school year. We purchased several Scholastic subscriptions, including political materials about the upcoming
Presidential election. In support of Principal Neuhaus and teachers, we purchased devices for the younger grades to ensure sufficient devices in
all grade levels. Please take the time to read the enclosed letter from Principal Neuhaus for additional information.
What is PTA?It is a Parent Teacher Association that
encompasses all teachers, faculty, parents and students who all share a common goal to make
every child's potential a reality.

Once again, this year, the directory process will be paperless from data collection to making the directory available both on your computer as well as your smart phone.

Why are we doing this? ● Saves time – this new system will help us publish the directory early in the school year AND we can keep it up to

How does it work? Our new system will involve 2 steps: (1) collecting your information and then (2) giving you secure access to the online system.
How do you access the new online directory? You will receive an email with login instructions. Then you will be able to update your families information.
What’s so great about the online directory? ● It’s secure – your family will have a unique login and password and the directory can’t be lost or stolen. ● You can search by student’s first name, grade, teacher and family last name. ● You can create your own custom list of frequently called families. ● You can access the family directory from any internet connected device: your computer, smart phone, iPad, etc. Is it secure? YES! All data is stored behind secure firewalls and can only be accessed by authorized users with a validated username and encrypted password. All data is viewed and passed using SSL encryption.
