Part 3: Knowing and Experiencing God as Father

Did God REALLY say……….? (Genesis 3:1‐3 NIV) 

Doubting the goodness of God 

Maybe God is withholding something from me? Perhaps?????

There in the garden of tears My heavy load He chose to bear; His heart with sorrow was torn,

He paid a debt He did not owe; I owed a debt I could not pay; 

I needed someone to wash my sins away. And, now, I sing a brand new song, 

“Amazing Grace.” Christ Jesus paid a debt that I could never pay. 

He paid that debt at Calvary. He cleansed my soul and set me free. I'm glad that Jesus did all my sins erase. 

I, now, can sing a brand new song, “Amazing Grace.”

He Paid A Debt He Did Not Owe

One day He's coming back for me To live with Him eternally. 

Won't it be glory to see Him on that day! I, then, will sing a brand new song,

He Paid A Debt He Did Not Owe

When he had received the drink, Jesus said, "It is finished." With that, he bowed his head and gave up his spirit. (Joh 19:30 NIV) 

The phrase "It is finished" = “tetelestai” in Greek (”PAID IN FULL”) 

Tetelestai = signifies a past ac4on, the effect of which con4nues into the present.  

A God who is wise enough to rule the universe, is wise enough to watch over Job, regardless of how things seem in the bleakest

moments.

A God who is wise enough to create me and the world I live in is wise enough to watch out for me

The book of Genesis tells us that God has made us into the His image and likeness, but we have 

made god into our image and likeness…. 

Never to trust again. Never to love again.

A determination to achieve self-control

I am in control of my own destiny

“I am the captain of my soul. I am the master of my fate”

Repentance •  Repentance = “metanoia” (Greek) (e.g. in

Matthew 4:17), to imply a change of mind and purpose and life, to which remission of sin is promised

•  Does it seem harsh to discuss on repentance with a person who has past hurts and struggles?

•  Does that mean we can be care less with our lives?

Repentance •  True repentance consists of

1  a true sense of one’s own guilt and sinfulness;

2  an attitude of gratefulness to God’s grace and mercy in Christ

3  an actual hatred of sin (Psa 119:128; Job 42:5, Job 42:6; 2Co 7:10) and turning from it to God; and

4  a persistent endeavor and desire for a holy life

He is Never Too Busy For You

•  We may be too busy for our heavenly Father, but He is never too busy for us

•  1 John 3:21-22

•  “You will receive…..”

•  if you obey and •  do what pleases him (in line with God's will)

•  does not mean that you can have anything you want

•  Answers to prayers can be “yes”, “no” or “wait”

He Feels For Your Deepest Sorrows

•  Psalms 56:8 NKJV - Tear bottles

•  Jesus reminded us of how much God understands us that even the hairs on our head are all numbered (Mat 10:30).

•  Often we waver between faith and fear.

•  When you feel so discouraged that no one understands, remember that God knows every problem and sees every tear.

No Matter What Happens, He Never Abandon Us

•  Psalms 27:10

•  So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand. (Isaiah 41:10 NIV)

•  We need not fear because •  God is with us ("I am with you”) •  God has established a relationship with us ("I am

your God"); and •  God gives us assurance of his strength, help, and

victory over sin and death

He Never Changes •  James 1:17 NIV

•  Psalms 18:2 NIV

•  Hebrews 1:12 NIV

•  Christ is our only security in a changing world.

•  Whatever may happen in this world, Christ remains forever changeless.

•  "On Christ the solid rock I stand, all other ground is sinking sand."

He Loves Us Too Much To Let Us Get Away With Things That Are Not

Good For Us

•  Hebrews 12:6 NIV

•  It is never pleasant to be corrected and disciplined by God, but his discipline is a sign of his deep love for us.

•  When God corrects you, see it as proof of his love, and ask him what he is trying to teach you.

Often He Will Not Keep Us From

Trouble But He Will Keep Us In Trouble

Friends, when life gets really difficult, don't jump to the conclusion that God isn't on the job. Instead, be glad that you are in the very thick of what Christ experienced. This is a spiritual refining process, with glory just around the corner (1 Peter 4:12‐13 MSG) 

He is not a Joy Killer 

Our Heavenly  Father May Surprises Us With A Hug 

He Is Not a Joy Killer •  God is not a Joy Killer

•  He surprises us by sending something delightful

•  A surprise call from a friend

•  An unexpected gift or kind gesture

•  This was totally spontaneous, entirely their own idea, and caught us completely off guard. What explains it was that they had first given themselves unreservedly to God and to us. The other giving simply flowed out of the purposes of God working in their lives (2 Corinthians 8:5 MSG)

He Knows You By Name •  Each of us are individually and intimately known by

Him

•  We are unique

•  Look, I've written your names on the backs of my hands. The walls you're rebuilding are never out of my sight (Isaiah 49:16 MSG)
