Deaf Affordable
Housing Corporation for Deaf and Hard of
Hearing Senior Citizens
The third floor of GLAD’s four–story
Eagle Rock headquarters consists of
14 efficiency apartments designed to
meet the needs of low-income deaf
and hard of-hearing senior citizens.
GLAD works with a professional
management company to screen
applicants and employs a full-time
resident manager to oversee the
housing program.
The people who live in the apartments
enjoy an independent lifestyle and
they can make use of GLAD facilities
and resources, including a rooftop
solarium (Skydome), laundry facilities
and park-like grounds. A security
system with closed-circuit TVs allows
residents to see who is visiting before
letting them in. Residents save their
recyclable cans and bottles then use
the redemption money for special
treats such a dinner out at a local
restaurant.
Many residents enjoy participating in
GLAD events such as the Annual
Children’s Holiday Party and more!
Often they can be found volunteering
in various ways to assist the GLAD
staff in a number of projects.

room, kitchen, dining room, bedroom and
bathroom and I can cook by myself. GLAD has
four floors. The first and
second floors are business
offices; the third floor is for
apartments, storage,
communication room and
laundry room, the fourth floor
is the Skydome. GLAD’s
environment is very
comfortable.”
