1. DEADLY FLASH FLOODS STRIKE INJAMMU KASHMIR-INDIA

Local reports say that at least six people have been killed inflash flooding since yesterday, 02 September 2014, in thenorthern Indian state of Jammu and Kashmir.Five of the victims were members of one family who diedafter flash floods washed away their home in Reasi district.The other death occurred in Poonch district where thevictims was swept away by an overflowing river. Around 40buildings have been damaged by floods in the area. Peopleliving in flood threatened areas have been told to evacuate,especially those in the low lying areas Surankote Tehsil, inthe Surankote valley area, where levels of the Suran Riverthreaten to flood any nearby villages.Other rivers in the state are also running dangerously high,including the Sind River where Indian Army personnel havebeen making flood rescues in the last few hours, and theTawi in Rajouri district. 3.
