Con Edison supplies portions of the Brooklyn/Queens area through an interconnected
grid of 4kV overhead feeders. The power to this grid comes from multiple 27kV feeders.
When a 27kV supply feeder fails or is taken offline for maintenance, power flow changes
within the 4kV grid. When there are multiple 27kV supply feeders out of service or during
high load periods, B/Q Regional Engineering needs to analyze the impact to the 4kV grid.
B/Q Regional Engineering will make recommendations based on this analysis such
switch operations or generator deployments to ensure that customers will continue to see
uninterrupted service.
