SERVICE OF HOURS AND TYPIKA

This service is a traditional form of prayer, mirroring in a specific way the Divine

Liturgy, when it is not available. It is intended for use by a deacon authorised by

the local bishop to lead a Sunday Service and distribute reserved Holy Communion

when a priest is not available.

In certain pastoral situations with the permission of the local bishop, the Typika

without hours may be celebrated and Holy Communion distributed by an Orthodox

deacon when the Divine Liturgy cannot be celebrated.

By the power of the Holy Spirit

he was incarnate of the Virgin Mary and became human.

For our sake he was crucified under Pontius Pilate.

He suffered death and was buried.

On the third day he rose again, in accordance with the scriptures.He ascended into heaven and sits at the right hand of the Father.

He will come again in glory to judge the living and the dead,

and his kingdom will have no end.

And in the Holy Spirit, the lord, the giver of life, who proceeds from the Father.

With the Father and the Son he is worshipped and glorified.

He has spoken through the prophets.

And in one holy, catholic and apostolic church.

I acknowledge one baptism for the forgiveness of sins.

But like the good thief, I will confess You saying, Remember me Lord in Your
