University of Mysore has declared the dates of the odd se-
mester exams for the academic year 2015-16. The exams
will commence on November 20th and will continue till
December 26th. This year De Paul college has got the
university approval for having an exam centre at its own
campus. A total of 101 students from BA, BCA, BBM and
B.Com will be answering their exams at the centre.

Theme of the Year
Ms. S. Mamatha, faculty of EVS was invited to take part in
three week training programme on e-mammal
project at North Carolina State University mu-
seum from 29-06-2015 to17-07-2015. In
continuation of it two areas in Karnataka will
be selected to set up camera traps and to
understand the mammal diversity which
ultimately will be used for conservation planning and action.
Alberto Brunio of first BBM, participated in
the singing competition IDOLE INDIENNE—4
organised by Indian Association of Teachers
of French on 31st October 2015 and won the
third place
Cadet Jubel Thomas of Final Year B.Com got

Centre for Career Development
An introductory session in Business Analysis by Mr. Praveen Udupa,
Certified Business Analysis Professional was organized, to familiarize
students on the role of business analyst and the job opportunities
available to a certified business analyst. The centre for career
development is also planning to offer a 30 hour certificate
programme on Business Analysis certified by BA ValueBase LLP
(Bengaluru) in the next semester to equip students with the skills
required to take up business analyst roles .
A five-week hands-on training in English
Academic writing in collaboration with the
University of Reading, UK; was offered through
futureslearn platform to help students to
improve their English writing skills for University
study.
The knowledge of MS Excel is a pre-requisite for all jobs.
An eight week hands-on training in MS Excel was offered
by Prof. Vinu under the aegis of Centre for Career Devel-
opment to equip the students with the basic and advanced
MS-Excel concepts, formulas and functionalities with the help
of real business scenarios.

On 21st of August on the behest of world literacy day, a
poster making competition was organized. It was a group
event where in 11 groups participated and each group
consisted of four participants. The competition was con-
ducted by cultural committee co-ordinaters Prof Vanitha &
Prof Dr. Vineeth. The posters were judged by Mr. Adrarsh
A Panel Discussion and Workshop on ‗Sustainable
Cities and Climate Change‘ was organized by The
Consulate General of Germany, Fraunhofer
Society India, and The Energy and Resources
Institute (TERI) on 23rd September at Bengaluru.
Prof. Mamatha Sathyanarayana along with two
students Ms. Madhuri and Mr. Jubel of final year
B.Com participated in the workshop.

Department of Arts and humanities, conducted an
elocution competition on the issues of global
terrorism, to pay tribute to the victims of ghastly
Nagasaki incident on August 6th and to bring
awareness against terrorism.
Department of Soft Skills organized a session on “Emotional Quotient
and Personal Excellence”. This was part of a three-year certificate course
on soft skills offered to all the students of the college. The event was con-
ducted by a well-known soft skill trainer, Mr. Jacob Chandy, who sensi-
tized the students on the importance of knowing one‘s own and others‘
emotions in the pursuit of personal excellence .

Department of Soft Skills organized a session on
Neurolinguistic Programming (NLP) as part of Soft
Skills Certificate Course . The resource person was
Mr. M.S. Rahgu, a Certified Neurolinguistic Program-
mer created an awareness among students about
this breakthrough advance human psychology.
Dr Heidi Riddle, Veterinarian and co founder of Riddle's
elephant Sanctuary, USA was invited to give a guest lec-
ture for the students of Environmental studies. She spoke
about in-situ and ex- situ conservation requirements for
biodiversity conservation. Heidi spoke about various
wildlife conservation methods used in conservation
around the world, the need for captive breeding and
also about wildlife of USA.
Founder ’s Week Celebra t ion (September 27th to October 3rd)
Founder‘s week was celebrated with various programs and activities involving the management, faculty, staff, and
students. The theme for this year was "Imbibe with
passion, impart with compassion."
The Founder‘s week celebration began with the Feast Day
Eucharist on the 27th of September. The inaugural
function was held on the 28th September, with all its
grandeur here at the college auditorium. The chief guest
for the occasion Rev. Fr. Jomesh, VC, the Financial Admi-
nistrator of De Paul Global School, Mysore presided over
the function and shared some of the key Vincentian values
with our college community. A ―Caption Writing‖ contest
was launched on the same day to trigger thoughts of
compassion in the hearts and minds of the students.
On 29th September, an Essay Writing competition was conducted on the topic ―Being passionate about being com-
passionate‖.
On September 30th, 53 students and 10 faculty members volunteered to join in the on-campus service program
which included cleaning the campus, the dining area and the gardens along with the domestic and house-keeping
staff of the campus.
On September 1st, 59 students and 7 faculty members took part in the off-campus service program. They visited
Asha kiran, Kaliyuva Mane, Aashiana and SVEL. It provided them an opportunity to serve and learn the values of
love, Service, and respect which are some of the core values of St. Vincent de Paul and De Paul Degree college.

Teachers ’ Day Celebra t ion
On the occasion of Teacher‘s day, Rotaract club of De Paul
College organized a function to express their gratitude to
their teachers. The programme began with the lighting of
the lamp by the Principal and the Executive Administrative
Officer. Prof. C.U Chittiappa and Prof. K.V Sasidharan, two
senior professors at De Paul college were felicitated for
their selfless contribution to the field of education.
Freshers ’ Day
Tyros -15 was celebrated as Freshers‘ Day on Aug
which marked a memorable day in the life of every
fresher at De Paul College. The day was filled with
excitement, joy, fun, music, dance and laughter. All
fresher‘s participated in several events like mime,
dance, solo singing etc which was performed on the
stage.
