Questions of the Week October 24, 2021

Power in weakness.

Question for Children: What would you like to ask Jesus for? Question for Youth: “Master, I want to see!” What do you most want to be able to “see” in your own life? How are you blind? Question for Adults: What does it mean for you to “see”? Are there blind spots in your life?

TODAY IS WORLD MISSION SUNDAY. We cele-brate this day by remembering our baptismal call to bring the Gospel to all! The collection today for the Society for the Propagation of the Faith supports the work and witness of the Mission Church, as it provides for priests, religious and lay leaders who offer the Lord’s mercy and concrete help to the most vulnerable communities in the Pope’s missions. Thank you for your generosity.

WORLD

MISSION

SUNDAY

Shepherd’s Call

It can be painful when a loved one dies. Grieving loss is an important part of being human. The Church, as a wise and loving Mother, invites Catholics to reflect upon lost loved ones on the November 2 feast of All Souls’ Day and throughout the month of November. St. Peter and St. Joseph will celebrate Memorial Masses next weekend to pray for those who died this past year. St. Julie will celebrate the Memorial Mass at 7pm on Tuesday, November 2.

Catholic means “universal” or offered to all. We witness to Jesus’s love for all when we can realize that also for Catholic education. On Monday of this week, Badin High School hosts their Latino RAM-formation night, October 25. It is also a sign of the times and recognizes the hard work, sincere faith, and hope for a better life that this growing segment of the population brings to Hamilton and the region.

I will be with all of the priests of the archdiocese this Wednesday for a convocation. The priests, your pastors and shepherds, are being invited to reflect on spiritual fatherhood in the light and grace of this year dedicated to St. Joseph.

It seems to me that the image of spiritual fatherhood requires priests to make time be with members of the parish(es). I am sorry that I have not been better. Having time with individual families or small groups of families is one of the challenges of having fewer priests and many extra-curricular activities. It is also difficult when parishes do not have up to date contact information. It could get more difficult in this time of transition with families of parishes. Even so, we are sharing our faith journey in hope of meeting Jesus now, and especially at journey’s end.

God’s blessings to you,

Join us as we pray before Jesus as the Bread of Life and be open to the Holy Spirit guiding us to cherish and support all life from conception to natural death.

Extraordinary Minister of Holy Communion Training: The COVID pandemic disrupted many Church activities, including this ministry. However, this circumstance gives us a golden opportunity to rebuild and refresh our knowledge and love of the Lord in the Eucharist. If you are interested in serving in this way, or would like to continue as an Extraordinary minister, we ask you to attend a training session and to be enrolled on our pastoral region's list of Extraordinary Ministers. This ministry is a privilege. We

want practices to be more uniform across the three parishes of our region, (to be in line with most recent guid-ance from the archdiocese), and to ensure proper reverence for our Eucharistic Lord. For these reasons, attend-ance at one of the three trainings is necessary to continue in this ministry - at Mass or to the homebound. Again, anyone feeling drawn to this form of service is welcome to attend and begin in this ministry. Please contact Fr. Hoffmann with any questions, he can be reached at [email protected], or (513)-416-3127.Dates and times for the trainings will be Thursday, Oct. 28 at 7 p.m., Tuesday Nov. 2nd at 1 pm, and Sunday Nov. 7 at 3 p.m. All trainings will take place in St. Stephen Hall in the Fenmont building at St. Julie. Please RSVP to the parish office.

JOIN US! Young adults, do you want to be happy? What will make you happy? Have you ever felt like something is missing? Join us! We will view a video series (35 minute episodes) in which Eric and Jenny moderate as Fr. Robert Spitzer and other experts in their field inquire about that important question: What is happiness? In what can it be found? Contact Fr. Hoffmann if interested (513-416-3127).

ACES Going Places—Plan Ahead! Saturday, November 13 at 8 PM Sorg Opera House in Middletown

Featuring the Belairs

General Seating: $25 advance plus $3 service and pro-cessing fees per ticket ($28 total). Seating will be assigned upon arrival in order to comply with social distancing guidelines. Masks are required at all times.

December A Christmas Story: The Musical at LaComedia.

Each show, of course, starts off with their buffet. I suggest we choose from Wed, Thurs, Fri, or Sat. 11:00 matinees, Dec. 1, 2, 3, or 4, or 8, 9, 10, or 11. We will need a mini-mum of 20 people to go in order to get the group prices of $40-42 depending on section. Without group pricing, the cost is $68-70 each! So, invite your relatives, friends, ene-mies – help us make up our party of 20 or more! as all pay-ment is due for groups one month before the show. In 2019 they filled up so fast we were unable to go. Check your cal-endars now for dates you would be available!

The official winners for the six categories being judged are as follows:

1. Best costume - Bill Plogman dressed as a Master Chef 2. Funniest costume - Diane Miller dressed in a Convict's jail clothes, minus handcuffs! 3. Most original costume - Bob Schutte dressed in German carrying apple cider 4. Most beautiful costume - Marilyn Vidourek 5. Most scary costume - Jim Miller

Each category winner above mentioned received a winning prize.

ACES

October 14 - Halloween Party

The three parishes of the Hamilton Catholic Region already work together in a number of things.

We are in need of someone to play piano or organ and lead singing at the 10:00 Mass at St. Peter in Chains.

This could be as often as three times a month or as seldom as once a month. This would be a paid opportunity. In addition to basic musicianship some knowledge of the Catholic Mass is needed.

Please contact Jonathan Alexander at St. Julie Billiart for more information, 513-863-1040 ext. 832.

In this Sunday’s Gospel, Jesus asks Bartimaeus: “What do you want me to do for you?” And he answers, “Master, I want to see.” Let us ask Jesus for the grace to “see” our

brothers and sisters who are poor and lonely.

This month, through your gifts, the Society of St. Vincent de Paul was able to assist many families, providing help with utility payments, rent assistance and other bills. God Bless You for your generous donations to our St. Vincent de Paul.

Jesus said to him in reply, “What do you want me to do for you?” The blind man replied to him, “Master, I want to see.” Jesus told him, “Go your way; your faith has saved you.” Immediately he re-ceived his sight and followed him on the way. - Mk 10:51-52
