The Dutch Cycling Embassy brings a team of experts from the Dutch public and private sector to Sao Paulo and Rio de Janeiro for an exchange on cycling policies in relation to urban planning and mobility. We like to share the Dutch experience and expertise on cycling inclusive planning and to contribute to policy developments abroad for safe inclusive mobility and vibrant cities. And we are happy that we can link the workshops with the experts and decision makers in Sao Paulo and Rio de Janeiro, with the mission by the city of Amsterdam to strengthen relations with both cities. In this exchange Amsterdam wants to explore how it’s prime world position on cycling can become part of city bonds. The workshop in Sao Paulo has been prepared with the Netherlands consulate general and the city of Amsterdam. The workshop in Rio de Janeiro has been prepared with the Netherlands consulate general in Rio and is a follow up of the cooperation between the city and the Dutch Cycling Embassy as a contribution to the Dutch Rio+20 agenda in 2012. In that cooperation, a study has been done to calculate the impact on CO2 emission reduction in the city, by cycling and interventions to promote it further. In 2013 the Dutch Cycling Embassy will become the coordinator of a Partners in Business program, to establish cultural and economic relations with Brasil through cycling. In a Partners in Business program, private companies cooperate with the Dutch government, the Netherlands Embassy and consulates and Dutch local governments for export promotion. The focus in this program will be on Sao Paulo and Rio de Janeiro and the workshops are a good opportunity for a kick-off of a structural exchange and cooperation. We are proud to introduce you to the organisations that contribute with us to the workshops: the city of Amsterdam, the university of Twente, MLAplus and Berenschot International. De Dutch Cycling Embassy De Nederlandse fietscultuur als inspiratiebron voor duurzaam stedelijk verkeers- en vervoersbeleid wereldwijd: dat is de gedachte achter de Dutch Cycling Embassy. Om daarmee niet alleen kansen te scheppen voor deze duurzame vervoerswijze, maar ook voor Nederlandse partijen. De Dutch Cycling Embassy is een publiek-private netwerkorganisatie die internationaal kansen signaleert en creëert voor haar deelnemers.

PROFILERING

Een meer zelfbewuste presentatie van de Nederlandse fietscultuur: dat was hard nodig. De website (www.dutchcycling.nl) van de embassy brengt nieuws over fiets-gerelateerde ontwikkelingen

en de Nederlandse bijdrage daaraan Geeft toegang tot de kennisbank van het Fietsberaad Biedt deelnemers de mogelijkheid zich te presenteren

LOKETFUNCTIE De embassy is een loket voor buitenlandse partijen die geïnteresseerd zijn in kennis, informatie, instanties,

dienstverlening en producten. Voorkomt dat deelnemers lastig gevallen worden met triviale vragen en leidt interessante vragen door.

MARKTBEWERKING Nederlandse diplomatieke posten (ambassades en consulaten) hebben het fietsen ontdekt als kansrijk onderwerp

voor publieke en economische diplomatie Samenwerking met de Dutch Cycling Embassy helpt hen juiste Nederlandse partijen te vinden voor kansen creërende

activiteiten Dit resulteerde in 2012 in 10 ThinkBike workshops en 9 seminars in zo’n tien verschillende landen. Kenmerkend voor de oriëntatie van buitenlandse partijen op Nederland als het om fietsen gaat, is de campagne

in Londen: ‘Love London, Go Dutch’.

MAKELAAR ten behoeve van beleidsadvisering De internationale ontwikkelingsbanken en VN-organisaties verleggen hun focus steeds meer van ‘wegenaanleg’

naar ‘verduurzaming van stedelijk vervoer’. Dit biedt kansen voor ‘fiets-inclusieve’ beleidsontwikkeling. Via haar internationale netwerk wordt de embassy benaderd door partijen (steden, VN-organisaties,

ontwikkelingsbanken) die gebruik willen maken van Nederlandse ervaringen en daarvoor een ingang zoeken. De Embassy vormt allianties tussen Nederlandse partijen om sterk in het buitenland te kunnen opereren

‘FIETSEN’ een unique selling point voor Nederland De Nederlandse internationale betrekkingen en marktkansen hebben veel baat bij een netwerk van publieke en private partijen met een integraal aanbod voor de internationale groeimarkt voor stedelijke ontwikkeling en duurzame mobiliteit.
