Education: More important than ever

Welcome to the 2nd annual education edition of our newsletter!

Weird times, aren't they? Last week we were headed into a dreaded double dip recession, but this week we've somehow avoided it; not just the double dipping, but also another recession. What will next week bring? Despite all the unknowns about where the economy is headed, Operations and Supply Chain Management remain a constant bright spot, as the following publicity attests:

Supply Chain made #1 on Fortune magazine's blog, "2011's hottest job you never thought of."

MIT's Center for Transportation & Logistics has come out with an insightful White Paper, "Are You Prepared for the Supply Chain Talent Crisis?" Also quoted in the Fortune blog, this White Paper cites talent recruitment and retention as one of Supply Chain leaders' top concerns.

How to stay competitive? Education! Education and training are often sought out during economic downturns. Employees used the recession to reassess their skills and reconnect to career dreams, while employers re-evaluated their workforce and increased best practices. Even President Obama recognized the value of education by including it as one of the ways to "create new jobs and save existing jobs' when he signed the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act in 2009.

Are you or your employees getting the education and training needed to stay in the game? Prepare by getting certified or taking other valuable professional training with APICS DC Metro. We boast a higher pass rate versus other APICS chapters and a faster ROI.

In this Issue:

Our Programs: We offer the full-range of APICS' globally recognized certification programs and Principles of Operations Management curriculum.

Our Instructors: Our Instructors have industry experience, are APICS trained and certified and not just teach but also know how to enhance course content. With more instructors now on board, we offer more courses and locations. A bonus in this traffic-clogged city!

We would not exist without our education sponsors who host and support our programs. Check them out in the left-hand column. Our deepest gratitude to you all!

Many thanks and blessings,

Joni
