To ask today’s date you can say: ¿Cual es la fecha de hoy?

To respond use the following formula: Hoy es el number de month. Examples: Hoy es el veinte y seis de septiembre.

If it is the first of the month use “primero” instead of “uno” Example: Es el primero de agosto. – It’s the first of August.
