APPENDIX B SCHEDULE OF DAYWORK RATES 1.00 General 1.01 Pursuant to Clause 11(5)(iii) of the Conditions of Contract, variation work on a daywork basis, when sanctioned by the Architect, will be paid for at the actual prime cost to the Contractor of his material, transport and labour for the work concerned, plus fifteen percent , which percentage shall include for the use of all non- mechanical plant, ordinary plant, hand tools, portable power-driven tools, scaffolding, and for supervision, overheads and profit. “Ordinary Plant” is defined as plant already installed on site for the purpose of carrying out the Works and self-propelled vehicles not licensed for travelling on public roads. 1.02 Where mechanical plant other than plant as defined in para 1.01 above is required for use on variation work, the Architect’s approval must be obtained before commencement of work. Only such plant that the Architect has accepted before commencement of work will be paid for separately on daywork basis. 1.03 The Tenderer shall fill in the rates at the spaces provided. These rates shall be subject to at the agreement of the Quantity Surveyor before signing of the Contract. 2.00 Daywork Labour Rates 2.01 The time of chargehands (doing physical work) shall be brought to account, but the time for foreman and walking overseers will be regarded as included in the cost of supervision and will not be paid for, nor will rates be paid a grade higher than that considered necessary by the Architect for the class of work involved. 2.02 Only time spent exclusively on the variation work concerned will be allowed. A “Day” is defined as a normal working day from 8.00 a.m. to 5.00 p.m (with 1 hour break). 2.04 Labour rates for overtime shall be 1-½ times the basic rates for normal working day.

3.00 Daywork Mechanical Plant and Equipment Rates

3.01 Where mechanical plant or equipment other than ordinary plant as defined in paragraph 1.01 is required for use on variation work to be valued on daywork rate, it will be paid for at the rates tabulated below plus fifteen percent, which percentage shall include for idling time, fuels and lubricants, supervision, overheads and profit.

3.02 The rates for self-propelled vehicles licensed for travelling on public roads shall include for wages of operator/drivers and attendants necessary for the normal operation of the vehicles concerned.

3.03 Only time spend exclusively on the variation work concerned will be allowed. A “Day” is defined as a normal working day form 8.00 a.m. to 5.00 p.m. (with one hour break). Fractions of a day will be paid for “pro-rata”.
