Sample Problem #2GDevin purchased an HD TV whose
original price was $640.00. He received successive discounts of 15% and then 10%. How much did he pay? (He bought the TV in Delaware - there is no sales tax.)A) $480.00 B) $489.60 C) $518.40 D) $576.00 E) $615.00

Helpful hint #1:The answer choices in multiple choice
questions are always arranged from least to greatest or greatest to least so if you are trying plug and chug start in the middle. This sometimes eliminates the number of solutions to check!
Difficulty of QuestionsFor the majority of the test, each of the
sections has the questions increase in difficulty.
Therefore, make sure you do not make careless mistakes on the first couple of questions in each section, since these are the easiest!
Sample Problem #3G
ΔTHS shown contains right angle S. If square MATH (not shown) has side length TH, what is the area of MATH? A) 169 B) 144 C) 60 D) 30 E) 25

Helpful hint #2:Calculators are allowed on the
test. Be sure you are familiar with the calculator you take to the test and that you bring extra batteries on test day!
Sample Problem #4GIf x2 + 15x + k = 0, where k is an
integer and the equation has integer solutions, then k cannot be which of the following?A) 14 B) 26 C) 36

Limit8What does limit mean?
Limit8Book says: If ƒ(x) becomes
arbitrarily close to a unique number L as x approaches c from either side then we say that the limit of ƒ(x), as x approaches c, is L
WHAT????
Let’s look at an example
8ƒ(x) = x3 – 1 x – 1
8Graph
Does your graph look like this?
Does your graph look like this?
• Is this a correct graph? Why or Why Not?
• What is this? Lets zoom in!
• What is this? Lets zoom in!
• Why is there a hole in this graph?
LimitDoes the graph approach the same number from the left and right of the hole?
LimitWhat does limit mean?
LimitThe jelly that files the hole!
•The yellow point is the jelly!
•What is the limit as x approaches 1?
LimitHow else could we find this limit?
Factor!
Limit8We write limits as:lim
x cƒ(x)
LimitWe say:
limx c
ƒ(x) TheLimitAsXApproachesCOfƒ(x)
LimitWe say:
limx c
ƒ(x)
Limit RulesThe limit of a constant is a constant! i.e.:
limx c
5 = 5
Limit RulesThe limit of a variable as it approaches c is c! i.e.:
limx c
x = c
Limit RulesThe limit of a variable to a power as it approaches c is c to that power! i.e.:
limx c
xn = cn

Dead Give Aways1. Zero Denominator
2. Negative Even Roots
