The present expectation from Green Energy New Product Development Technologies is to bring

innovation and changes in daily work and personal lifestyles of similar magnitude to the “information technology” volcanic explosion over the last two decades. It requires development of new products whose contents and methods of production have the smallest possible impact on the environment, a sustainable business and become preferred products for consumers.

To give insights into the growing importance of innovative green energy technologies for SMEs, CII – AVANTHA Centre for Competitiveness for SMEs is organising a two-day conference on “Innovative Green Energy Technologies for India (i-GET INDIA)” on 11-12 February 2011 concurrent with IETF at Pragati Maidan, New Delhi. The highlight of the conference is a poster / model competition for engineering students from colleges around Delhi. The best entries are put on display in IETF 2011.

i-GET INDIA aims to set benchmarks and introduce new and relevant subjects to

Contemporary Indian Art Exhibition A New dimension in IETF

The Contemporary Indian Art Exhibition at Hall 18 of the IETF organized by the CII Task Force on Art with the support of DIPP drew a steady stream of visitors.

Indeed, the art exhibition acted like a magnet, drawing delegates and visitors who were all captivated by the collection of eye catching art work that included canvases (both oil and acrylic), digital prints, paper collages, water colours and art installations. Some foreign delegates could be observed taking photographs with the off-beat and

sometimes satirical art installations even before the exhibition had begun! Sandip Pisalkar’s motorcycle fitted with a cannon titled Human Enemy HEK that emits a smoke that kills mosquitoes was of special interest. In complete contrast was the beautiful “That Glory” a shimmering fiberglass leaf to which a grasshopper, a butterfly and an insect added interest. Similarly, a delicate digital carnation print on canvas by Rohit Gupta was set off by a robust work composed entirely of pencils and letter pads done by Rajesh Ram.

Five major Delhi based art galleries displayed works done by about forty artists. Funky art related objects that ranged from mugs, a flexible pencil with sharpener, kitschy cushions, book lights, in addition to books on Indian art and culture were also on offer.

The exhibition of Contemporary Indian Art demonstrated that India’s new economic success has led to a new aspiration amongst Indians to engage with and acquire art. It certainly took CII’s mission to encourage the display of art at public places forward.

Addressing the gathering, Shri R. P. Singh, Secretary (DIPP) cautioned about the environmental challenges which are posing threat to the society. He shared that the government has already initiated 8 missions for fulfilling its national and international obligations on the issue. He also talked about the emerging role of India in increasing productivity in the South-Asian region as a whole for which DIPP has utmost commitment.

Speaking on the uniqueness of the conference, Shri N C Vasudevan, DG, NPC informed that it represents one of the first few attempts in the

region to articulate green product design and green purchasing. He shared that the subject matters chosen for the conference are particularly appropriate and visionary as they are focused towards enhancing environmental protection, international competitiveness, and sustainable development. Some of the key topics selected for the deliberations during the conference are; Eco-finance & Eco-business, energy efficient technologies & global energy markets, Green supply chain, green procurement along with climate change & low carbon growth.
