Then, visit Jingshan Chinese Herbal Institute to learn about traditional Chinese medicine, which has existed for thousands of years. DAY 5 BEIJING – SHANGHAI – SUZHOU (B/L/D) Fly to Shanghai and travel by coach to Suzhou. Suzhou is also known as the “Garden City” due to its many classical gardens, renowned for their charming natural beauty and harmonious construction. Upon arrival, visit the Lingering Garden which is among the finest gardens in China. As a large area of the city is covered by water, including a vast number of ponds and streams, Suzhou is known as “Venice of the East”. You may take a cruise along the Grand Canal to view life along China’s golden waterway in its heyday ($30). Then, visit a Silk Spinning Mill, and learn how silk is created from mulberry-munching silkworms to produce the finest thread and cloth.

owing to the Beijing-Hangzhou Grand Canal. To boat on the ancient

DAY 6 SUZHOU – WUXI (B/L/D) This morning, travel by coach to Wuxi, one of the oldest cities in China with more than 3,000 years history. Upon arrival, visit one of the largest Fresh Water Pearl Farms in the country, followed by the Lingshan Grand Buddha. Later, stroll along Nanchang Street, a charming and fashionable pedestrian street composed of both ancient and modern architectural styles.

DAY 7 WUXI – HANGZHOU (B/L/D) This morning, travel by coach to Hangzhou, described by Marco Polo as “the most beautiful and magnificent city in the world”. Experience an oriental tea-tasting at the Dragon Well Tea Plantation. Then, take a boat ride on the serene West Lake, the most renowned feature of Hangzhou, noted for its scenic beauty which blends naturally with many famous historical and cultural sites. This evening, you can enjoy an optional performance, “Impression West Lake”, a masterpiece created by Zhang Yimou, the director of the 2008 Beijing Summer Olympics Games Opening Ceremony. ($60).

OPTIONAL PROGRAM: Impression West Lake $60pp This show is one of the Chinese top live-action performances. It is strongly featured by the local culture and unique charm of West Lake in Hangzhou. It is nationwide famous for its dreamlike show and fantastic elegance. It is one of the representatives created by Zhang Yimou who is Chinese most famous movie director and the general director of the opening ceremony of Beijing2008 Olympic Games. DAY 8 HANGZHOU – SHANGHAI (B/L/D) After lunch, travel by coach to Shanghai, the vibrant metropolis and commercial Centre of China. Upon arrival, walk along the famous Bund, a mile-long stretch along the Huangpu River. Lined by the colonial architectures of European design, this area is the best place to capture the western influences of the old days. Continue on to the bustling shopping district, Nanjing Road. Continue to visit the Ming Dynasty Yuyuan Garden which is considered to be one of four greatest Chinese gardens. You can cap off the day by attending a thrilling optional Chinese acrobatic show - “ERA: The Intersection of Time” ($60).

DAY 9 SHANGHAI (B) This morning, visit the Shanghai Museum and see ancient Chinese art, furniture and jade. The afternoon will be free for you to enjoy at your leisure. You may explore the Xintiandi area, an affluent and fashionable pedestrian street composed of unique Shikumen ("stone gate") and modern architecture. At night, you may enjoy a Huangpu River Night Cruise and get a glimpse of the dazzling and charming night view of Shanghai($50).

Riding a cruise along the Huangpu River, you will take a glimpse of the history and charming night view of the cosmopolitan of Shanghai. On one side of the river, there is the Bund, a landmark of Shanghai. Lining the boulevard of the waterfront are grandiose solid buildings of Western style dating back to the early 19th century. DAY 10 SHANGHAI – Xi’an (B/L/S) Xi’an was the first Chinese city to open its doors to the world during the Tang Dynasty. Over a period of more than 2000 years,

Xi’an was the capital for eleven dynasties. Upon arrival, you will visit the Terra Cotta Warriors and Horses Museum and see

the attached life-sized defending army to the first emperor of China, Qin Shi Huang. This site is regarded as “the eighth

wonder of the world” and is among the top archaeological excavations of the 20th century. Visit an Art Ceramics Factory

before we enjoy the special local Imperial Dumpling Banquet Dinner and the traditional Tang Dynasty Singing and

Dancing Show in the evening.

DAY 11 Xi’an (B/L/D) Visit the Shanxi Provincial Historical Museum in the morning. Enjoy a local special noodle lunch and watch a Noodle Making Demonstration. After lunch, visit the Ancient City Wall which is not only the most complete city wall that has survived in China, but also one of the largest and most complete ancient military defense systems in the world. Then, visit the Big Wild Goose Pagoda, the symbol of the city. It is said to have been built to house and protect Buddhist scriptures collected by the Chinese monk, Xuan Zang, the key figure in the classical Chinese novel, “Journey to the West”.

DAY 12 Xi’an - Canada(B)

Enjoy the morning at leisure before you are transferred to Xi’an airport to board your overnight fight to Canada. The trip may be over, but the experiences and memories will certainly last a life time.

As this is a sight-seeing and shopping tour, there are seven shopping excursions on this tour, and a minimum amount of time (60 mins) must be spent at each shopping site. However, there is no obligation to purchase anything. For those who are not very keen on shopping, visits to shopping sites should be treated as cultural learning experiences as all the products including jade, silk, tea, etc are deeply ingrained in the Chinese culture and well worth learning.
