Dave Donaldson - Wokingham Winter Carnival: floats, stalls ...€¦ · Pro Portraits Thames Valley...
Transcript of Dave Donaldson - Wokingham Winter Carnival: floats, stalls ...€¦ · Pro Portraits Thames Valley...
Welcome everyone to the 2012 Wokingham Winter Carnival. This year’s theme is “A Dickensian Christmas” which we hope will inspire you to dress up as a famous character from one of Dickens’ novels and join in the procession on Carnival Day.
Once again we have a fun packed day with entertainment for all the family. Browse the stalls to find a present or two, listen to the wonderful live music and stay for the carol singing in market place after the procession.
The committee is always on the look out for new members with fresh ideas so if you would like to get involved in helping to run the Winter Carnival please get in touch through the website: www.wintercarnival.org.uk
The carnival would not take place without the effort of a dedicated group of local residents, charitable organisations and local businesses. Without this support events such as the Winter Carnival would simply not take place. Your commitment can be as little as two hours on Carnival Day so please do make contact with us and keep this great tradition alive.
To register your interest in joining in the procession, to help on the committee or on Carnival Day get in touch by going to our website or by telephoning 07748 701346.
On behalf of the organising committee I wish you a very Merry Christmas and a Happy and Prosperous New Year.

The Winter Carnival recieves amazing support from individuals, organisations and local businesses every year. Without them a community event of this size really would not be possible to finance or organise.
Our SpOnSOrS
Wokingham Town Council and The Wokingham Society have once again provided financial support and play a major role in the smooth running of the day.
Cantley House Hotel and Cantley Lodge kindly allow us to hold our committee meetings in their rooms and support us by advertising in the programme.
Specsavers and St. Vincent Vets have been sponsors for several years and their continued support is much appreciated.
We welcome prospect Estate Agency as a new sponsor and thank them for their help with the distribution of programmes and promotion of the day. We hope this will be first of many Carnivals they are involved with.
Our thanks go to The Wokingham Times for all their help in promoting the Carnival and their splendid coverage of the event in words and pictures.
More Arts: Wokingham has been involved with the procession over recent years and help to promote the arts through many community events.
If your company would like to help support either financially or by offering members of staff to volunteer their time to the Winter Carnival please do get in touch early for next year by contacting us at [email protected]

The highlight of the Winter Carnival is the magical lit procession which starts off at Shute End at 4pm and winds its way through the town as the light fades. Floats and walkers will be dressed up in the dickensian theme and heading the procession will be St Sebastian Wokingham Band.
Look out for Wokingham & Emmbrook Football Club, Silwood Park Karate, Complete Childcare Ltd, Southfield School, 1st Finchampstead Scout Group, Wokingham Youth Theatre, a tank, a double decker bus and the Wingfield Engineering Steamroller to name a few!
Please wave and cheer as the procession goes by and place any cash donations, no matter how small, in the official collection buckets being rattled along the route.
We are very grateful to Neil and Kay Moss at Rapid Hire Centres, to the lorry companies and drivers, to Scarlet Couriers and to John Shortland and Laurenne Dorgan for assisting in coordinating the procession and the volunteer marshals.
The procession will be followed by the singing of Christmas carols in Market Place around the Christmas tree so please stay and join in!
