People always ask for a “City Tour”. Well, here goes…..we will begin with a driving tour of “The Biggest Little City In The World”. Want to know where that slogan come from? Want to know more history of Reno? Want to know the stories of times gone by and today'slatest gossip? Well, you’re in LUCK.
Our tour will include the Reno Mercantile/Masonic Lodge No. 13 building, at 98 W.Commercial Row. This is the oldest standing commercial structure in Reno. The lodge was chartered by Nevada’s Grand Lodge in Virginia City in 1869. For the first few years, the members met in a variety of locales. This site is right next to the present Whitney PeakHotel, which is the newest hotel in Reno. It connects to the Reno Arch, which crosses VirginiaStreet.
Other historic sites include the original Quickie Divorce Court, “not open for business”, the historic Post Office, and the Lake Mansion. Myron Lake is the founder of Reno. This is whereit all started with the silver rush of 1859. We will tour the mansion and experience life, likethe members of the Lake family who just happen to own the only log bridge that crossed the Truckee River for prospectors heading for Virginia City to make it rich.
Get ready to explore the historic post office with incredible architecture and design. You will also have free time to enjoy lunch here on your own before we return to the Peppermill.

DONNER TRUCKEE TOUR
JUNE 8, 2019
9:30 am – 3:30 pm
Meet in Tuscany Tower Ballroom Foyer at 9:00 am PRICE $82.00
The California Trail will lead us to experiences of old west boomtowns. Your tour guide will
take you through the pass where immigrants and their wagon trains moved to California
through Nevada Territory and up the Sierra Nevada pass in search of land to
homestead. Before the California Gold Rush of 1849, George and Tamsen Donner led their
ill-fated wagon train toward the summit through the pass in late October of 1846. Twenty
feet of snow fell when they reached the location that is now called the city of
Truckee. Donner State Memorial Park is dedicated to the memory of that ill-fated
journey with beautiful views of tall pine trees and a brand new visitors' center located at
the site where cabins for survival, and 30’ tree stumps show the immigrants' struggle to
survive. There will be a docent tour of the camp, which includes a short film and a visit to
the museum.
Next, you will enjoy an elegantly hosted lunch at Moody’s Restaurant inside the 1906 Truckee
Hotel. Charlie Chaplin actually stayed here in 1925 during the filming of the “Gold Rush”.
Feel free to order no host cocktails from the historic saloon.
After lunch, you will have a driving tour of the historic town with a last stop at the
Railroad Depot for a Kodak moment
In-depth walking with areas to sit and rest.

NATIONAL AUTOMOBILE MUSEUM AND NATIONAL BOWLING STADIUM
JUNE 10, 2019 10:00 am – 3:00 pm
Meet in Tuscany Tower Ballroom Foyer at 9:30 am
PRICE: $80.00
Don’t miss “One of America’s Five Greatest Auto Museums”. The National Automobile
Museum (The Harrah Collection) has a “W0W!” factor you don’t often find in a museum. You
will see more than 200 eye-popping cars displayed in scenes depicting the 19th and 20th
century fanning the globe. Most of the vehicles displayed are from the collection of the late
casino owner William F. Harrah, and so the museum is sometimes referred to as the Harrah
Collection. The museum opened in 1989 bringing to life department stores, movie theatersand artifacts from each era. Audio tours included in your admission price let you explore
at your own pace.
Next we visit the National Bowling Stadium. It is a 363,000-squre-foot ten-pin bowling
stadium. It is recognizable by an 80’ aluminum geodesic dome in its façade, built to resemble
a large bowling ball. Nicknamed the “Taj Mahal of ten-pins”, the 78-lane stadium opened in
1995, cost $47.5 million, and took three years to build. It has a capacity of 1,100 spectators,
78 lanes, can be covered to be converted to convention space, and holds the record for
hosting the most United States Bowling Congress championships. Once more, it also hosts an
extension of the International Bowling Museum Hall of Fame. The museum is often the
filming location for bowling scenes in films such as King Pin, Greedy and Father’s Day.
You will be in the center of what is referred to as the “ROW” for lunch where you will have a
plethora of restaurants to choose from, including the Eldorado, Silver Legacy, and Circus Circus.

Meet in the Tuscany Tower Ballroom Foyer at 9:00 am

Words cannot describe Wilbur D May’s adventures and collections from the
1920's and ‘30's.
May went around the world 40 times. The Museum is a partial replica of his
ranch-style home in south Reno. The living room chronicles his military service,
and life as a businessman, composer, aviator, and philanthropist. The tack room
showcases his life as a rancher and the trophy room provides a glimpse of his big
game hunting years. The collection features accumulated trinkets and treasures
of this eccentric millionaire’s personal curio collection, including at least one
shrunken head. In the collections are artifacts such as T’ang Dynasty animals,
African masks, hundreds of Oriental miniatures, dozens of pistols and rifles,
African artwork and instruments, Eskimo scrimshaws, Egyptian scarabs, Greek
icons and Italian amulets that pre-date the birth of Jesus. Gobelin tapestries and
Navajo rugs are just some of the objects adorning the walls. Objects date
from 1910 through 1970. The museum houses thousands of photographs,
documents, and other ephemera covering a wide range of topics.

MUSTANG VS. AUTO
JUNE 14, 2019
Price: $80.00
10:00 am – 2:00 pm
MEET IN TUSCANY TOWER BALLROOM FOYER AT 9:30 am
Nevada is home to over half of all free-roaming mustangs in America. In 1971, Congress
passed legislation to protect, manage, and control wild horses and burros on public lands, at that time
estimated to be about 72,000. They were declared to be “living symbols of the historic and pioneer
spirit of the West”. They are part of the state-managed Virginia Range ecosystems. Have room in
your suitcase?? The horses can be adopted. The horses were brought to the Americas by the
Spanish, then were quickly integrated into Native American cultures to replace their dogs as pack
animals in the 17th and 18th centuries.
Next, we visit Tahoe-Reno Industrial Center (TRI), billed the largest industrial park in North America
covering an expanse of 74,000 acres outside of Sparks. Tesla bought land here in 2014 for its $5 billion
battery factory. Soon, both Google and Switch also joined TRI Center. It has sold almost all of
its property in this short amount of time. Experience a modern day boom town of “Tech and
Industry”.
We will then venture to a working brewery. Find out what it takes to make the best brew around.
We, of course, will be staying for tasting and enjoying a friendly lunch before returning.
