My 14 year old daughter entered her first-ever art contest in 2016. This charcoal piece she drew of her brother won a gold award. Only the top 5% of more than 320,000 entries worldwide received gold, so we are ridiculously proud.

This was my daughter’s first-ever commissioned piece. She was paid $85 for drawing this amazing pencil sketch of Miss Mary’s beloved horse. Did I mention we are proud of her?

A Horse Named Ciao - 2015

Although she can obviously sketch animals and work with charcoal, her real passion is drawing pencil sketches of human faces. One of her specialties is capturing the eyes and making them come alive. This is a pencil sketch she did of Michael Landon as Little Joe on Bonanza. Both my kids love lots of the old TV shows.

Little Joe - 2015

This was her second commissioned piece. It was ordered by a co-worker of Miss Mary’s, after he saw the horse drawing my daughter had done. It is a pencil sketch of his wife’s treasured cat who had died. He got it as a surprise gift for his wife and he was totally thrilled when he saw it for the first time. Just in case I forgot to mention it, we are incredibly proud of her.
