Headlice

Recently, several parents have reported that their child has headlice. This is a reminder to all families to regularly check your children’s hair for lice or their eggs. Once treated, students should return to school and treatment should be repeated until there are none remaining. Scratching for answers What should I wash or treat at home? As head lice only live for a short time off the head, the only extra cleaning needed is to wash the pillowcase on the hot cycle or place in clothes dryer for 10 minutes. Head lice combs can be cleaned in water hotter than 60 degrees.

Developing a team spirit

Team sports help kids to learn that things don’t go their way all the time, and that they need to respect their peers. They also help kids with resilience and how to respond to setbacks. Find out more: http://www.schoolatoz.nsw.edu.au/wellbeing/fitness/benefits-of-team-sports

Rugby Union Gala Day

On Wednesday 28th November GNPS Years 5 & 6 and Years 3 & 4 boys went to Apex to play St Pats in a Rugby Union Day. It was soooo hot playing. Our first match for Yrs 5 & 6 was against St Pats Yrs 5 & 6, it was a brutal match but the Griffith North boys fought through and won 4-2. The Year 3 & 4 boys won their first match 6-2 against St Pats. Then the 2nd Year 5 & 6 team lost their game. Both 5 & 6 teams combined in a game against St Pats and we won. We all showed great sportsmanship and we had a great time. By Cody, Jy and Luke

Gala Cricket Day for Year for Year 4

Last Monday our Year 4 students teamed up with Year 4 students from St Patrick’s primary school for a day cricket. We had some wonderful older students to umpire matches and teach new skills. Many thanks to Mr Angel for organising such a worthwhile day. He even organised perfect weather! Here’s what some of our students had to say about it. Brea and Ella - On Monday we went to play cricket against St Pat’s at Apex Park. We had a lot of fun and we all showed good sportsmanship, even if we lost. Overall it was a good day. Krisha - We learnt how to play cricket and got to have a go at everything. My favourite part was batting. Elijah and Connor James - The day was fun. We both lost one match and won one match. Even when we lost it was still fun. Before the day, we didn’t know how to play cricket. Even though we didn’t know how to play, it was still fun. Mikayla - The Gala Cricket Day was fun for me because I was with my friends and I got 4 people out. Thank you to Mr Angel for organising the fun day. I won both my games.

Canteen Roster –Term 4

Wednesday 05.12.12: Helper Needed Thursday 06.12.12: Liz Aloisi Friday 07.12.12: Amanda Bordignon Monday 10.12.12: Neva Barber Tuesday 11.12.12: Anjanette Rowley

Thank you to our regular volunteers who always seem to find a bit more time to help when it is needed. A warm welcome to the new mums who have kindly offered their services. We know it’s a busy time of the year but your help ensures the Canteen can operate and run smoothly. There are still many days this term that we need volunteers, so maybe “buddy” up with a friend, you will find it an enjoyable day and your children will love seeing you in the school. Leaving your child at home alone

Making some clear 'home alone' rules with your child gives them an understanding of their boundaries and can also keep you from worrying. Most kids will be fine on their own when the appropriate time comes, so long as some guidelines are followed. Confidence in public

Kids need to develop their skills for speaking in front of others long before their 21st birthday. If your tips for keeping nerves at bay during public speaking are limited to imagining your audience in their underwear, here is some advice to help your child prepare for their big moment in the spotlight. http://www.schoolatoz.nsw.edu.au/homework-and-study/english/english-tips/public-speaking-in-primary-school Thank You Morning Tea
