Hello parents and welcome to Week 2 of Term 2. Remote learning We are now in the second week of remote learning, a new way of learning that has definitely tested the patience of students, staff and parents across not only Queensland but also Australia. As a school we are very aware of the challenges parents and children are facing each day to complete school work and I would like to congratulate everyone on their commitment to making it work. I have always advocated for a strong partnership between schools, families and the community when educating children and now, as a result of COVID 19, this partnership I believe, has strengthened. Furthermore, the knowledge and skills parents have acquired to support students and the strategies and programs teachers have utilised during this period are some of the positives that will come from this pandemic moving forward. I would like to acknowledge and thank all of the staff at Maryborough West State School who have all gone above and beyond to ensure these first five weeks have operated as smoothly as possible. Every staff member has approached this period of time with incredible positivity and have constantly adapted to the many changes, some at a moment’s notice, that have been encountered. School Access This is a reminder to all parents and community members that the only access to our school is at the front door of the administration block. This is to ensure we uphold “social distancing” measures to stop the spread of COVID 19. Once you present to the front door of the office, either Miss Brand or Mrs Boulton will be able to help you. Important Dates Monday 4 th May Labour Day Holiday Friday 22 nd May Show Holiday Sometime next week an expected announcement as to how week 6-10 will operate.
