Raising High Achievers

Gifted and Talented Family Gathering

Over the course of the 2019 -2020 school year, the Wausau School District Gifted and Talented Department will be offering 4 evening events for you and your high achieving elementary

student.

These gatherings will take place at Rib Mountain Elementary School in our gym and some of our classrooms.

Meetings will take place from 6:30 -7:30 pm on the following 2 dates:

Tuesday February 18

Thursday April 23

Our goal is to provide an opportunity for you to gather, share, learn from each other, and build a network. This will also be a time for your high achieving youngsters to meet other kids, learn

and play engaging games of interest for high achieving students, and have some fun!

Attendance Policy

Classroom instruction begins @ 8:35 a.m. Learners arriving at school

after this time are considered tardy. Please call the office (715)261-

0000) before 8:45 a.m. if your child is ill. After this time, the school will

contact you. Learners arriving after 9 a.m. or leaving before 3 p.m. will

be marked absent for 1/2 day.

Medical/Dental Appointments are excused if documentation is provid-

ed of said appointment, to the office.

Early Release Days have a 11:30 a.m. dismissal time. These days are

still considered full days. If learners are not here on those days, it

reflects as a FULL day absence.

Hats off to Ms. Tennant for working hard with the students to get them ready for the

concert.

Thank you to all the parents who came out to enjoy a fun evening watching

your children perform.

Franklin School Safety-Raptor Security System

The Raptor system will allow us to more closely track visitors,

contractors, and volunteers in our school.

For the safety of students and staff all school entrances are locked throughout the student day.

At Franklin, visitors who arrive during the instructional day enter the building through Door #1, the main

door off 5th St. As you enter the foyer, visitors press the intercom button to speak to the school staff

and receive assistance.

Effective January 2,2020 WSD will be using the Raptor Security System to sign in all school

visitors who need to enter the student learning areas. You will need to present valid state issued ID.

(State Driver’s License or State I.D.) Your I.D. will be scanned and the Raptor system will

automatically notify office staff if a visitor is not eligible to gain access to the school. If approved,

visitors will receive a personal visitor’s badge to wear throughout their visit.

Important:

A visitor’s badge will not be necessary for those who visit our schools to simply pick up or drop off

an item in the office (lunchbox, homework, etc.)

The Raptor System will not be used for those who are picking up their child from the office as long

as they are not going into the interior learning environment. We will continue to check individual

ID’s for identify purposes and only dismiss children to authorized adults.

The Raptor Visitor Management System and process will only be used during school hours.

(8:25 AM-3:35 PM) Attendees at after-hours events such as performances, ceremonies, or

academic/athletic competitions will not be required to complete the process.

Visitors for Franklin Family lunch days will not need to use the Raptor system. Visitors simply sign

in/out with a staff person at the front door. Family lunch visitors should not leave the lunchroom or lunchroom hallway area and will stay in view of district staff.

At the beginning of the school year, WSD provided each student

with a pair of headphones to use at school. Beginning 2nd semester

of 2020, if a student loses or breaks their headphones, we will ask

families to supply headphones from home or families can send

$3.00 to buy a replacement pair.
