February 2019MONTHLY NEWSLETTER
February, 2019
You shall not commit adultery.
As we follow our diocesan theme, it isthis sixth commandment upon which wefocus during the month of February. Weare called to the virtuous action ofloyalty in our friendships andrelationships. The sixth commandmentand accompanying virtuous action aremost appropriate for this month as wecelebrate Valentine’s Day and oftenthough not this year, begin our journeythrough Lent. The juxtaposition of Valentine’s Day andthe beginning of Lent (Ash Wednesday,March 6th ) remind us that our love forone another is modeled on theunconditional love God has for each oneof us.We hear in scripture: God is Love…Godso loved the world that he sent his onlyson…Love is patient. Love is kind…We can easily fall into the trap, thoughthat love is a sugary, sweet feeling andconsequently, not “feel” loved or “feel”love toward another. We areencouraged through the example ofJesus’ life, death and resurrection toembrace love as a choice of action:choosing to put another before self.

Sacrificial love of this nature is modeledevery day in families as parents chooseto put the needs of children before theirown. Our faculty and staff sacrifice eachday putting the education and faithdevelopment of our students beforetheir personal needs and wants.Let us strive to remain loyal to this“family – school relationship” as wemodel for the children this incrediblepartnership that exists in support ofthem becoming the people God intendsthem to be!At All Saints we are engaging minds andstrengthening faith as together, we areAll Saints strong!
