School Council

Weekly update from our esteemed publicity officer Adam Ali: This week in the School Council meeting we have been asking Councillors about what new clubs they would like to have and what they think parents would be prepared to pay per session. The most popular club children would like to see was Basketball. Other clubs people mentioned were Skateboarding, Cooking, Yoga, Hockey and Gymnastics. We thought the maximum cost would be £4 or £5.

We also voted on the next issue to discuss: it is people teasing about ghosts and jokes that upset others.

Golden Book Awards and this weeks winners are...

Missing Scooter A pink Micro Scooter went missing from the scooter parking last week. If anyone has taken it by mistake, please could they return it and let the office know they have. Many thanks! A brief reminder to all, that if you can , please secure your bike or scooter with a lock.

Teo flying high! Since the beginning of term, Teo has been using a new reward system to help him to focus on his learning. Every day, he has the chance to earn pieces of a kit by making the right choices and showing us what a superstar he is. We are so proud that Teo has managed to collect all of the pieces to make this fantas-tic plane! Now he is working on collecting the pieces to build a racing car and he would real-ly appreciate it if you could help him with making the right choices when you see him around school. Well done Teo!

Brecknock Needs You!

The Christmas Fair is on Friday 9th December after school. We need all of you to help make this a wonderful event—prizes for the raffle and tombola, bake a cake, do face-painting, help set up, ask around locally for donations, run a stall—anything at all. There is a volunteer sign up sheet in the office if you would like to help.

Amazing Maths in Year 3 Over the last few weeks, Year 3 have been working on adding numbers. They have been using diennes and writing on tables (don’t worry Curtis, the pen rubs out!) to help them see each stage of the process. We are trying to get the children to ex-plain their maths as much as possible and this really helped. Well done Year 3—keep it up!

Thank you everyone who dressed in spots last Friday and also to those who donated a pound. It was a big success and we managed to raise over £300!

Atmospheric Writing in Year 6 Check out the atmospheric start to Ben’s amazing narrative...and let me tell you, it only gets better!

It was a dark night. The miserable sky loomed over the city, a black abyss of impenetrable darkness. Heavy rain pounded onto the cobbled paths and worn-out buildings. Alarming thunder struck down on to the thatched roofs of the townsfolk, awakening them with a deadly re-minder. My hairs stood on end as I peeked out my bedroom window…
