1. Universal lmmunlzation Programme (Ulp) is one of the largest public HealthProgrammes that targets around 2.7 crore infants and 3 crore pregnant women annually forvaccination. Despite being functional for more than 30 years, Ulp has been able to achievefull immunization coverage of around 65%. To rapidly increase full immunization coverage!o more than 90% by 2020, Mission lndradhanush (Ml) was launched in December 20fl byMinistry of Health & Family welfare (MoHFW). Mission lndradhanush (Ml) focused onunvaccinated and partially vaccinated children in high risk areas and pockets of lowimmunization coverage.
2. During the review of Ml, PRAGATT held on 26th Aprit 2017, rhe prime Ministerdirected all stake-holders to achieve the target of g0% immunization coverage by 201g.
3. To take this mandate ahead, MoHFW will be conducting lntensified Missionlndradhanush (lMl) draves from 7th October 2017, details of the same are as under:
(a) Aim of the above is to achieve the target of 90% full immunization coverageby 2018.
(b) Drives will be conducted in 1 1 8 districts, 17 urban areas and 52 dishicts ofNE states (List enclosed)
(c) ln these drives, 7 working days from 7th day of every month for fourconsecutive months excluding Sunday, holidays and Rl days will be utilized for lMlsessions.
4. The Cabinet Secretary and Health Secretary reviewed Ml on 22 May 2017 and26 July 20'17 respectively. Directions were issued to 17 relevant ministries to take suitablesteps to make the programmme a success, as per the directions of the Hon'ble pM.
5. The following actions are to be taken in this regard:-
Undertake immunisation drives on the specified days.
Close liaison/ co-ordination with local health authorities.
Facilitation of immunisation services in cantonment areas.
Support in border districts for delivery of vaccines in hard to reach areas.
All possible assistance to civil health authorities at remote and field areas.

Mission Indradhanush is a flagship programme of the Ministry of Health &Family welfare (Government of India-) ralricnel in oecemLer zora which aims atIncreasing the furr immunization coverage or chiroren ilioss the country. linisMinistry has received communication frim Secretary, UoX&fW ,uqu".[inj foisupport and coordination of this Ministry to achieve the target of IntensifiedMission Indradha nush {opy enclosedl.l2. In the PMGATI review meeting held on 26th April, 20L7, Hon,ble primeMinister has directed the MoHF&w to reach the target of 90% fuir immunizationby December 2018 instead of the earrier set ylar of zo2ot with increasedconvergence with other Ministries with special focus on selected districts andurban areas. The MoHF&w has identified 118 districts. 17 urban areas and s2districts of North East states where the Intensified Mission Indradhanush is to becarried out from October, 2017 (list enclosed).
3. Following areas have been identified by the MoHF&w where the support &coordination is expected from the Anganwadi Services scheme in achieving thetarget of Intensified Mission Indradhanush:
. Sharing of data on beneficiaries with ANM/ASHA.. AWW to support conducting head count surveys and assist in micro-plandevelopment,
. Extra support needed from AWW in urban or other areas with no ASHAS.. lPC with pregnant women for TT vaccination and infant vaccination.. Monitoring of AWWs by CDpOs and DpOs.
4.-^ In this. connecton, may I request you to issue necessary instructions to theofficers dealing with the Anganwadi services in your state/UT to provide theirunstinted support to Mission Indradhanush as expiained above. M/o H&FW has also desired to provide pro-bono publicity/coverage to its programme through the Media Units of this Ministry.

2 Being mandated to provide publicity and awareness generation support, M/oH&FW has sought the support of this Ministry for providing publicity to theirimmunization programme through Pvt. Satellite TV Channels and F-M. RadioChannels as part of CSR. Towards this, Secretary(l&B) has desired that pvt.Satellite TV Channels and F.M. Radio Channels may be requested to provide pro-bono assistance for the immunization programme 'Mission lndradhanush' of M/oHealth & Family Welfare.
3 You may kindly take up the matter with the concerned Associations/Bodies forproviding pro-bone publicity to the 'Mission lndradhanush' through Pvt. Satellite TVChannels and F.M. Radio Channels.
