    Product description

    The EMC ControlCenter Database Cleanup Utility is an interface to perform frequent

    cleanup actions such as deleting the following:

    Hosts

    Service tickets in ControlCenter Repository

    Active alerts in ControlCenter Repository

    Prerequisites

    Use the EMC ControlCenter Database Cleanup Utility on ControlCenter 6.1 and later

    versions. Run it on only the ControlCenter Repository host.

    The host must not return errors when the ecc_getversion command is executed from

    the command prompt.

    Installation

    1. Download the latest EMC ControlCenter Database Cleanup Utility from EMC Online

    Support.

    2. Copy the cleanup.zipfile to the directory that has ControlCenter installed.

    3. Extract the contents to obtain the following folders and files:

    lib

    commons-cli-1.0.jar

    logs

    scripts

    cleanupAlerts.bat

    cleanupSTRSVC.bat

    deletehost.bat

    deleteactivealerts.sql

    storeserviceticket.sql

    DeleteHost.sql

    Cleanupscripts.bat

    Cleanupscripts.jar

    Options

    -deleteHost

    This option deletes the specified host from the ControlCenter Repository.

    -h

    The hostname of the host that should be deleted from the database. The original host

    name that is displayed when you drop a host in the console Properties view should beused.

    This command deletes the host lgloa188from the console.

    Usage

    Delete duplicate host entries from console.

    Delete duplicate agent entries from console. (Delete the host with the duplicate agent

    entries to resolve the problem)

    Logs

    -clearActiveAlerts

    This option deletes all the active alerts from the database.

    Usage

    Use this option when the Console becomes unresponsive and a large number of alerts

    pile up. You can also this it immediately after upgrading EMC ControlCenter to restore

    smooth functioning.

    -clearStoreServiceTickets

    This option is used to clear all the store se rvice tickets from the database.

    Usage

    Use this option when the Stores become inactive or unresponsive due to a high load

    factor. You can also do this immediately after upgrading EMC ControlCenter to restore

    smooth functioning.

    Logs

    The EMC ControlCenter Database Cleanup Utility generates a log file in the cleanuptool

    folder. Additional logs mentioned in the following table are generated using options in the

    cleanuptool\logs folder.

    Known problems and limitations

    The EMC ControlCenter Database Cleanup Utility can be run only from the ControlCenter

    Repository host.
