Theheatexchangersaremadeofshape-pressedheatplatesbetweenwhichtheflowchannelsarecreated.Gasketsbetweentheplatesseparatetheflowchannelsfromeachothersothattheflowsdonotmix.Theheavyturbulenceandcounter-flowprincipleenablesefficientheattransfer.Thetaskoftheheatexchangeristotransferheatfromtheprimarytosecondaryflowthrough a heat transfer plate thus preventing theflowsfrommixingwitheachother.Theplateheatexchangerwithgasketscanbeopenedforcleaningandforreplacementofplatesandgaskets.Asteeplesoutputadjustmentcanbecarriedoutbychangingthenumberofplates.
Thechoiceofheatexchangerisdeterminedbythedesiredheatoutput,requiredtemperaturesandthepermittedpressurelosses.
Sizing DimensioningandselectionofheatexchangersshouldbecarriedoutwiththesupportoftheDanfossdimensioningprogramforheatexchangers.
Mounting Theheatexchangermustbemountedinverticalposition. Preparethefoundationfortheheatexchangerifnecessary,alwaysaccordingtolocalregulations.Itisrecommendedthatallpipesconnectedtotheheatexchangerareequippedwithshut-offvalvesformaintenancepurposes.
Thepipestobeconnectedmustbemountedsothatthestraincausedbythethermalexpansion,forinstance,doesnotharmtheheatexchanger.
Thepipesmustbeequippedwithbracketstoprevent any torsional stress concentration at the heat exchanger’s pipe connections.
Itisrecommendedthattheheatexchangerisequippedwithinsulation.
Asafetyvalvemustbeinstalledbetweentheheatexchangerandtheshut-offvalvesonthesecondary side of the heat exchanger. If the safetyvalveisnotinstalled,thermalexpansionoffluidmightdestroytheheatexchangerwhentheshut-offvalvesareclosed.
