PRODUCT DESCRIPTION
Data Fabric
Next Generation
Middleware
FAST FACTS
What is it?
A high-perormance, low-latency, message
oriented middleware platorm used to
distribute large volumes o application level
inormation across the enterprise.
Who is it or?
Institutions requiring low latency, high
throughput, and scalable data distribution
to improve the perormance o mission-
critical applications across the enterprise.
What does it provide?
High perormance real-time data
distribution and the oundation or next
generation business applications.
Demands on data and inormation inrastructures withinbusinesses have increased in number and intensity andthe situation is set to continue. Data volumes are growingat aster rates and processing systems are being orcedto deal with the deluge o inormation that input to criticaldecisions. Legacy systems are being strained, emphasizingthe need or technological innovation.
Customer Challenges
Market participants are under acutepressure to ensure their technology
systems can withstand ever increasing
volumes o real-time data, now and in
the uture.
Superior latency & throughput profles
As data volumes increase and the need
or speed intensies, systems must
demonstrate superior perormance to
add value.
Improved data distribution
A distribution solution is needed that
requires a small hardware ootprint, is
scalable, enables fexible deployment
and reduces time to market or critical
applications.
A trusted supplier
End users are looking or help to handle
this complexity and allow them to ocus
on their core business.
Solution Benefts
NYSE Technologies Data FabricTM is a
leading platorm or low latency, high
throughput, scalable applicationmessaging. By undamentally changing the
approach to middleware, Data FabricTM
simultaneously benets rom, and
maximizes the power o, multi-core CPUs
and network hardware with ast
application-level memory access.
Breakthrough perormanceFrom high-requency trading to cloud
computing, Data FabricTM is unparalleled
or real-time data distribution. Data
FabricTM is unique among high
perormance middleware platorms
in its ability to use MultiVerb, Verbs RC,
Local Direct Memory Access (LDMA),
and Remote Direct Memory Access
(RMDA) to eed client applications at
appreciably higher throughput, and lower
latency on a larger scale.
Unrivalled innovation
Data FabricTM
, using industry standardhardware, oers signicant throughput
and scalability with lower latency
than traditional low latency IP-based
middleware. The platorm achieves
breakthrough perormance with low
CPU overhead by eliminating the need
or CPU time to be spent on I/O. This
enables business applications to do
critical work aster and with less data
center real estate.
Flexibility and choice
Data FabricTM supports ve transport
types: MultiVerb, Verbs RC, LDMA,RDMA and direct TCP sockets,
which can all be accessed via the
high perormance, industry standard
Middleware Agnostic Messaging API
(MAMA). This fexibility allows architects
and administrators to choose the
ideal interconnection solution without
requiring code changes, and ensures the
best perormance possible, regardless o
deployment choice.

Verb-Level Multicast Distribution
Data FabricTM MultiVerb is a ull eatured, kernel bypass multicast distribution transport, written
on the InniBand Verbs specication. It enables enterprise an-out with a send-once capability in
which packet replication occurs at the hardware switch level. The innovations in MultiVerb result
in higher throughput and improved latency over any other product in the market and provide the
basis or next generation data distribution.
Data FabricTM MultiVerb Benefts
Large throughput and latency improvements over standard multicast middleware
Network ofoad perormed by Host Channel Adapter (HCA)
Predictable business application perormance: Flat latency curve
Reliable transport option that automatically detects message gaps and requests
retransmissions
Shared Memory
Data FabricTM incorporates the revolutionary approach o a publish-and-subscribe, topic-based,
application messaging platorm that leverages Shared Memory Access. This unique design
allows applications to bypass the kernel with zero-copy semantics, to send and receive data
directly rom the applications user space memory. By leveraging hardware acceleration to handle
message delivery, Data FabricTM also provides publisher protection rom subscriber errors.
Addressing Multiple Perormance Goals
MultiVerb latency sensitive, an-out distribution over large scale deployments
Verbs RC applications requiring low latency and reliable messaging
LDMA extremely latency sensitive applications
RDMA latency sensitive applications requiring processing across multiple servers
TCP ecient enterprise an-out to servers and desktops where only traditional Ethernet
is available
Data Fabric Perormance
Over 1 billion, 200 byte messages per second on transport, with an average latency under 5
microseconds running 1 publisher application and 1000 subscriber applications on 300, 12
core Intel Xeon X5670 servers using Data FabricTM MultiVerb on InniBand
Over 8 million 200 byte messages per second, with nanosecond latency when running one
publisher application and ve subscriber applications on a single, 8 core Intel Xeon 5500server using Data FabricTM LDMA
