So let’s take a closer look at examples of some possible data center upgrade solutions. Assume that the intent of the data center staff is to install a high density pod within a low density data center. The high-density pod avoids dependence on the unpredictable nature of raised floor cooling and does not require complex computational fluid dynamics (CFD) analysis prior to installation. The pod supports independent power distribution, UPS, and cooling systems. This “drop-in” solution eliminates hot spots by simply moving high-density equipment into the pod. The heat generated from the high-density IT equipment within this pod is rejected to the outdoors with no impact to the existing data center cooling system or the surrounding low-density IT racks. In fact, the pod acts as its own high-density data center within an existing low-density data center and is thermally “invisible” to the rest of the room. High-density pods operate on the idea of isolating server exhaust heat and directing all of that heat into the air conditioner return vents, where the air is first cooled before being redistributed to the front of the servers. By isolating both hot and cold air streams, the high-density zone neutralizes the thermal impact that high-density IT racks would otherwise have on traditional low-density data centers. As mentioned earlier, the pod presents a room-neutral load to the existing data center cooling system. It is also possible to power a pod with its own dedicated UPS and power distribution. This may be desirable in situations where the existing data center UPS is at capacity or is being phased out due to end-of-life or when targeted power availability is required for a specific area of the data center.

I am presenting today regarding the InRow Chilled Water product offerings. There are two 300mm cooling units being introduced. The first is a direct replacement to the current ACRC100 & 103. The new SKU number is ACDC301S – where the “S” stands for (Standard Temp). This unit is designed around the standard 45 degree Fahrenheit EWT. The second 300mm unit being introduced is the ACRC301H – where the “H” stands for (High Temp). This unit is a new style of technology and is designed around elevated EWTs. There are also two types of 600mm units available. These include the ACRC500 series and ACRP500 series. The RP series features humidity and reheat functionality. So the purpose of this presentation is to give you a technical overview of the InRow Chilled Water product offerings. Throughout this presentation, when I refer to the “300mm units” I will be referring to both the “Standard & High Temp units.” AND forgive me, for I have not had time to update to the new Schneider Electric Power Point Template. STOP HERE!!! An unpredictable data center environment is common among IT managers. In today’s data centers, traditional cooling approaches involve complex air distribution systems that tend to be unpredictable and leave many customers guessing where the cold air goes. With the InRow Chilled water products, Schneider Electric has taken the guess work out of data center cooling. Placing the unit in the row of racks moves the source of cooling closer to the heat load. This minimizes air mixing and provides a predictable cooling architecture. The close-coupled architecture provides “predictable cooling solutions for an unpredictable environment” improving the availability data center.

This slide details the main features and benefits of the 300mm Standard Temp unit. In short, the unit has increased cooling capacity, increased airflow, and reduced energy consumption. The new touchscreen display is easy to use and positioned higher up. The standard temp unit now supports both 100-120V and 200-240V power inputs with just one SKU number. The Standard Temp unit is compatible with the CDU and can be connected via PEX-AL-PEX piping. And lastly, it is compatible with the EcoAisle containment system and the Active Flow Controller. In short, the unit has increased cooling capacity than that of the Standard Temp unit while utilizing higher water temperatures. Airflow is also increased and energy consumption is at a minimum. This unit also comes standard with the new touchscreen display. The high temp unit supports 208-240 volts of power input. There is also an optional dew point control pump for condensate management – which we will discuss later. This unit is NOT compatible with the CDU nor PEX-AL-PEX piping. This slide details the main features and benefits of the 600mm unit. In short, the unit has the highest cooling capacity of the InRow units. Airflow is also at a premium 6000 CFM with filters and energy consumption is at a minimum. The RP versions have automatically controlled reheat and humidification systems integrated inside the unit. The voltages for both 600mm version range from 200-480V of power input. This unit is NOT compatible with the CDU nor PEX-AL-PEX piping. And lastly, it is compatible with the EcoAisle containment system and will be compatible with the Active Flow Controller in a future firmware release.

The InRow RC is a modular cooling solution designed to be installed in the row with IT equipment racks, and will deliver predictable cooling to IT equipment located in the row. The operation of the InRow RC maximizes performance by capturing the heat at the source enabling 20% more efficient operation than traditional data center cooling approaches. The Active Response Controls monitors inlet temperatures and will respond to thermal loads in the row. The row-based architecture allows for cooling to be added when the need arises instead of oversizing your data center. This row-based design greatly reduces your total cost of ownership with the use of variable speed fan technology.

Welcome to today’s Overview presentation of EcoAisle, which is scheduled for global release on (June 28th , 2013). As the innovator of hot aisle containment Schneider Electric is bringing more innovation to data center cooling with it's EcoAisle containment system and airflow balancing control. This flexible system adapts to both hot and cold aisles to address the wide range of data center cooling challenges faced by today's IT and facilities managers. When used with room, row, or external cooling systems the flexible aisle containment will maximize cooling system efficiencies by eliminating mixing and balancing airflow to enable increased operating temperatures and reduce fan energy.
