time.**  Varga charts can be exceptionally useful.  However, if accurate birth

time is not available, divisional charts are misleading, and should be ignored.

Dashamsha - D-10"Field of Psychic Expectation for Matters of Career & Profession"

Dashamsha does not define career.

Rather, D-10 provides confirmation of radix & navamsha significations.

If confirmation of radix/navamsha strength does not occur in dashamsha, reduce any career expectations derived from D-1 and D-9.

Gracious and abundant planets in dashamsha indicate successful spiritual education in cycles of birth and death.

If you have achieved the absolute humility necessary to channel the enormous dignity of divine power, so you will be dignified by a powerful social position.

Conflicted planets in dashamsha indicate past-life/subconscious ego-attachment and resistance to acknowledge divine greatness, which will manifest in this life in inadequate social recognition and respect

The good news is, as always: if unconsciously-continued patterns arise into consciousness, karma is transformed into wisdom and negative implications of the astrological charts may be reversed.

Here is a dashamsha-based career timing analysis

Career, profession, & matters of public worth & prestige

Dashamsha, the tenth divisional varga (D-10), contains more subtle information & clarification of karmaasthana effects from the radix chart.

Pattern Recognition

B.V. Raman often wrote, the vidya of Jyotisha is all about looking for patterns.  No single indicator is ever trustworthy in isolation.  We need to see repeating influences in order to securely predict an event or distinctive phase within a person's lifetime.

Page 2: DaSamsa

The main professional predictors in my experience have to do with the relationships between key career factors in the "full set" of career charts: radix, navamsha, and dashamsha.  We must consider these interrelationships to determine the career profile and fluctuations in public status.

Read vargas 'interactively', in the context of the radix chart.

If L-10 is uccha in D-1 but  neechha in dashamsha, expect the native - however gifted they may be - to struggle with contradictory public appraisals. The career will vacillate between success & failure, or between visible & invisible.

By contrast, if L-10 radix is strong in both D-1 and D-10, while the lord of the 10th dashamsha is also auspicious, this is a sure sign of a vibrant & successful career.

D-10 must be consulted when predicting results for career, executive or leadership roles in the society, promotions & recognition in the status hierarchy, or matters of public opinion.

Public face

Also read dashamsha for general prestige. Not everyone has a 'career' with title, but everyone has a public image. The public 'face' one shows the world, an individual's public profile = what most people know about one's personal history, relationships, parents.

"Prestige", from www.etymonline.com :

"from1546, "practicing illusion or magic, deceptive," from L. præstigious "full of tricks," from præstigiæ "juggler's tricks," probably altered by dissimilation from præstringere "to blind, blindfold, dazzle," from præ- "before" + stringere "to tie or bind" (see strain (v.)).

Prestige is from 1656, from Fr. prestige "an illusion" (16c.). These words were derogatory until 19c.; prestige in the sense of "dazzling influence" was first applied 1815, to Napoleon. Prestigious with this sense is attested from 1913."

Significance of graha in D-10 domains:

The dashamsha can be read like a normal chart.

As in other charts, Rahu-Ketu amplify and sensitize any graha they contact, and any lagna they occupy.

Page 3: DaSamsa

Any D-10 domain which contains one or more graha is likely to have importance in the native's public life. Look for concentrations of graha within each of the six lagnas

Examples:

E.g., significant graha in the D-10's 4/10 lagna = strong public acknowledgement for conduct in the parent & educator roles. Whether the acknowledgement is positive or negative, depends on the nature of the graha(s).

E.g., significant graha in the D-10's 6/12 lagna = strong public acknowledgement for conduct in the conflict-policing & sanctuary roles. When domain-6 is strong in D-10 the native should be professionally involved with conflict, either creating or managing it.

Also strong graha in domain-4 of the D-10 suggest that the public may give special attention to facts regarding the native's childhood home or upbringing.

o If the graha is Rahu, read 'unusual, unstable, or foreign' elements in the upbringing.

o If the graha is uccha Guru, read wealth and privilege, or a magnificent education. .

Grahas in kendra of D-10 and D-1:

Significant graha in any kendra of D-10 gives the native an unusually strong public presence.

As in the D-1, the more graha in kendra, the more the native is well-known.

Typically the nativity with graha in all four kendras of D-10, D-9, and/or D-1 is nationally or internationally known.

No graha in D-10 or D-1 kendras suggest that the native is not known outside of their own neighborhood or village.

L-10 radix, D-10 lagnesha

For determining career, by far the most important grahas in D-10 are:

1. the graha which is the lord of radix domain-10, and2. the graha which is the lord of dashamsha lagna

3. the graha which is the lord of domain-10 in dashamsha

4. Shani - for position in large hierarchies

Page 4: DaSamsa

5. Budha - for public communication skills

First, check the role of the grahas enumerated below.  Interactively, check D-1, D-10, and sometimes D-9.

These career significators become temporarily much stronger (for good or for ill) when they are reigning as Vimshottari mahadasha pati or bhukti pat.

Evaluate:

1. *radix L-10 - its role in D-10

2. radix L-7

3. *dashamsha lagnesha - its role in D-1

4. navamsha lagnesha

5. lord of radix L-10 in D-9

6. lord of radix L-7in D-9

7. lord of radix L-10 in D-10

8. lord of radix L-7 in D-10

9. *lord of the10th/D-9, disposition in radix (important component of career profile)

10. *lord of the10th/D-10, disposition in radix

11. lords of the D-9 and D-10, disposition in radix

12. rashi of dashamsha lagna, what house position in radix.

13. rashi of  navamsha lagna, what house position in radix.

14. arudha lagna of radix karmaa bhava

15. the current Vimshottari periods lords

This is a long process.

However, it's the best way I know to extract a useful pattern of career markers from any nativity.
