Celebrating NAIDOC Week Students from Kindy to Grade 6 participated in workshops with Noongar elder Dr Noel Nannup over the last 2 days of Term 2. He was

very generous in sharing his knowledge and with the the beautiful weather the workshops took place under blue winter skies in the

amphitheatre. The sessions were targeted to meet the differing interests of each age group, with stories, Noongar language, singing

and dancing for the younger ones and more complex traditional stories (such as the Carers of Everything and the Coming of the Col-

ours) and time in the developing nature trail for the older kids. In the Nature Trail students glimpsed Dr Nannup's exceptional

knowledge of common, latin and Noongar names for plants. There was also plenty of opportunity for every child to ask questions and

grow their understanding of Noongar culture and heritage. We were honoured to host Dr Nannup, who has strong family links

with this area of the Perth Hills, for the two whole days. Thanks to

the P and C for supporting this important opportunity.
