Darlington Bulletin Term 1, Week 5
Week 5 already, I am about to take some leave (26th February to 15th March) and while I am away I am leaving the school in the very capable hands of Michelle McCormack, Rohan Hills will replace Michelle on 5/6G during this time. I know the staff are busily organising Parent/Teacher interviews for Week 8 (starting Monday March 14th) so keep an eye out for the notes going home. This is an opportunity for you and your child’s teacher to discuss progress and any issues that may have arisen during first term. Please note that on Monday 29th March (2:30pm - 4:00pm) a number of consultants will be here at Darlington PS to begin consultation with you as parents/carers of students who may be affected by the new “Inner City High School” development at the old Cleveland Street High School Site. Please try to spend some time in the hall with the consultants as this is our opportunity to participate in the consultation. We are the first school they will visit, followed by Glenmore Road, Crown Street, Darlinghurst and Paddington PS.

ETHICS AT DARLO 2016
Hi there,
My name is Laura Armesto and I have just taken over the primary ethics co-ordinator role from the very capable Rebecca Shanahan, who is stepping down after years of great service. I am not a parent at Darlington (though I did complete my last teaching practicum here many years ago!), but plan to drop into the school regularly. My contact details are [email protected] or 0439 149 407, happy to have a chat about the program anytime.
We are commencing 2016 with two ethics teachers, so we have scheduled a stage 1 and stage 2 class. There are some children which we currently can not accommodate, and they will be placed in a waiting list. I am currently recruiting new teachers, and as soon as they complete the training we will be organising new classes. If you have indicated that you would like your child to attend Ethics classes and they have been placed in a waiting list we will keep in touch with you by email as new classes come online.
Have you ever thought about teaching ethics? All that you need is the ability to commit every Tuesday, 2:00-2:30, the rest is easy, just ask me how!
Out of the mouths of babes …
“I like that I get to relax and listen to great stories. Then we get to talk about them. It’s different
to our other classes”. - Lara, Year 2, Gordon East Public School
“In ethics, we learnt that people are different and that’s OK.” - Student, Year 3, Pennant Hills
Public School.
“It’s a fun way to learn things and your opinion matters in ethics.” - Student, Year 3, Pennant
Hills Public School.
