Darlinghurst School News & Views January 6th 2017 From The Leadership Team Dear parents and carers, Welcome Back! We hope that all of our families had a relaxing Christmas break. I would like to update you all on some staffing changes this term. Next Friday our KS1 Assistant Principal, Mrs Cooke, will be commencing her maternity leave. I am sure that you will join me in wishing her the very best of luck with the birth of her baby. Miss Lynch will be stepping up to the role of Assistant Principal and leading KS1 while Mrs Cooke is away. Mrs Ablethorpe has also stepped up to the Senior Leadership Team and will be taking over as Assistant Principal for Years 3 and 4 when Ms White takes her maternity leave later this term. In addition we have welcomed two new teachers to our team; Mr Cauchi will be providing teaching cover and delivering interventions in KS2 and Mrs Levy will carry out the same role in KS1. Squid Class will continue to be taught by Miss Lynch with additional release being provided by Mrs Levy. Mrs Peoples will teach an additional day in Hummingbird Class to allow Mrs Ablethorpe to fulfil her new leadership role. Your patience has been much appreciated as, we have had a few teething problems ie. not all balances were initially showing but hopefully this has been resolved and you should now be able to view the status for; dinners, breakfast and after school clubs accounts. NewsWe have enjoyed our first couple of days back with Rabbit Class. All of the children were eager to discuss their holidays,discuss some New Year Resolutions and to catch up with their friends. A positive start to learning for 2017. Thank you onceagain for your kind Christmas wishes, cards and gifts. Please do not hesitate to email us if it is easier than trying to catch us atthe door. Kind regards Mrs Dennis and Miss SladeMrs Peoples is very grateful to the generous parents of Orca Class for her beautiful presents. Thank you. Happy new year.Thank you to all the children for their hard work and enthusiasm during the Autumn Term. Mr Holmwood, Miss O’Connell and MrBird would also like to say thank you for the generous gifts they received. A number of them have been well enjoyed over thefestive period.Thank you to the children and parents for their very lovely kind gifts. Happy new year to you all, Miss Lynch and Mrs Moore

ClubsWe are really pleased to be able to offer a new lunchtime club (week commencing 16th January) where the children can take partin speech and drama activities.They will work towards nationally recognised speech and drama exams – LAMDA. More information on the club is attached to thenews and views document.As the club is run by an outside provider, there will be a cost involved. Please pop into the front office for further information and/orto fill in an application form. Mrs Cooke Sports clubs will continue from Monday 9th January, Girls Football, Netball, Boys Football, Hockey and Running Club will bethe current register. There will no longer be any lunchtime sports clubs apart from Year 1 & 2 Gymnastics which will have a newregister and will start in two weeks (names and date to be confirmed).Karate re­starts Monday 9th January, there is space for children to join, please collect a form and make payment at the office.

ASSA are starting a new football club for years 1­2 onThursday 12th January, please collect a form and makepayment at the office.Street Dance will be starting Wednesday January 18th,letters to follow shortly.Bricks 4 Kidz will be starting Monday and Wednesday ofnext week, you should have received confirmation of yourchild's place.Invitations to EYFS Puppet Club will be going out nextweek.Board Game club has finished at this time.Choir will continue on the current register on a Wednesdayafter school, with additional rehearsals for the childrenperforming at the O2. Letters should come home today.Fame Club has now ended, Thursdays will become therehearsals for Joseph after the cast has been set (cast listand dates to follow)Further information for the new Art Club will follow shortly.
