    Darius Pt. 1

It is a truly amazing feet, I must say. To feed a family during the depression. But Darius, at

only 16 years of age, managed it very well. He was known for his ability to feed his family, and thefamily friends, with little to no job skills.

But he had his ways. He had a very powerful looking jaw, and broad shoulders. He as strong.

The other boys refused to play football with him because of this. Some even say he once threw a carengine on his shoulder, and walked 14 miles with it up there. Why no body assumed he had a skill that

could provide a food source to the entire town.

It slowly became the entire town. At first, it was a 3 day food drought in his home. His fatherhadn't been bringing home good pay from the factory. Apparently, corn wasn't a big seller in suburban

Milwaukee. Still, he went about the daily rigor of walking out to the factory, a full 5 miles from home.

Darius had never been, let's say, balanced. He had never been the kind of kid to react to a

situation well. And god knows with the new baby, ma and pa hadn't been paying much in the way fattention to their little boy. So one day, when he was down at a swimming hole, playing with the

Wallace brothers, he came up with an idea.

See, the Wallace's were notorious for their use of profanity, something Darius didn't much carefor. Kid couldn't spell butterfly but he hated fuck. And he could hear it from a mile away.

Don't misunderstand me, Darius wasn't a bible thumper. But every time he heard fuck or

cunt slip from one of his peers lips, he remembered the beatings his uncle from Chicago would givehim. It was engrained in his head, and the Wallace's didn't care.

Can you believe Ms. Stein? one shouted from the shore.

Yeah, that kike bitch is always out to get us.

One thing we've all given Darius is that he was ahead of his time. Wasn't keen on words likekike either.

You guys stop. Her jobs to right us.

The boys laughed and looked at Darius. See, Darius had come to be like a gentle giant, so tospeak. He was a big boy, but he wouldn't hurt a fly, they thought.

What's wrong, you like that cunt or something?

God he hated that word. Cunt. It rang through his ear like a thousand bees. I don't like that word... he uttered with a hesitant rage.

What? Cunt?! Hah, well thats what she is. The boy in the water was probably the cockier

considering he could swim away from Darius' lumbering grip without a moments notice.Darius walked back to the shore, enraged and morose. It hurt to hear his teacher shamed like

that. He noticed the boy on shore walking over to a small cliff side, overlooking the water hole.

The boy in the water was getting too cocky.

Uh Oh. Now the baby's going home to his mommy. I wonder if his name is Darius the Cunt. Why's that, the boy on the cliff yelled.

Cause, he's going home to mama and papa cunt.

Darius stopped dead in his tracks. Despite the lack of attention his parent's had ever given him,he would not have anyone say something so disrespectful about them. He stood angry, as though a

gauge was filling inside of him, building to a horrifying rage.

Don't mind us, pussy. Run home to the...The Wallace on the cliff didn't stand a chance. Darius was at him before the last cunt could

fly out. He slammed him to the ground, bashing the back of his head against a rock like he was short

stock dribbling a basketball. It bounced seamlessly off the rock. 1. 2. 3. Darius lost count of the

    bounces.

The Wallace in the water screamed. He began swimming down towards the river that connected

to the water hole. Darius looked up, and saw him making a break for it. He jumped down from the

cliff, landing almost like a swan in the cold water. He didn't swim, there was no way. It would'veslowed him down too much. He simply walked at the boy.

His arms must've looked 15 feet long as he grabbed the boys hair.

NO, PLEASE DO-.He jammed the boys head underwater, and held it down. He remembered doing something

similar to a bunny when he was 6. He knew from the trial and error of that endeavor to give it 5

seconds after the bubbles stopped. According to him, he waited 10 minutes. He finally found his resolve, and let go of the boys head. His lifeless, now gray and blue body,

floated to the surface. Darius paused, and looked back at the cliff. Even from 5 yards away, he could

see the crimson gush of brain matter and blood running down and mixing in with the grass that hungfrom the cliff side. The gravity of what he had just done finally set in.

He threw the water Wallace over his shoulder, and slowly drug his feet through the water. The

water almost parted, afraid to meet a similar fate. Suddenly, a trickle from the sky smashed against his

face. The rain.Even a boy with a 78 IQ could see the opportunity that was made available to him. He walked

up the bank as the rain drenched the forest floor. He tucked the boys behind a tree in a fox hole he

found. They weren't big boys, but they were bigger then a fox hole. Inclined to hurry up and get home, the cliff Wallace hung out of the fox hole. Darius ran home, the only thing masking his fear and tears

    was the rain.

Dinner that night was a cold chunk of fatty ham. Ma hadn't had time to wait at the breadkitchen, so there was no hope for sandwiches. The baby got hers cut up, and Darius could swear she

    got more then him.

Darius, we need to talk. Pa said with an ominous verbose.

Darius, we need to make sure everyone is working together. Pulling their weight. You haven'tbeen. Most of my money goes to rent, which is typically late anyways. Your mother takes care of your

sister. You don't have a contribution. You're gonna need to figure out what you're bringing to the table,

and start doing it. Or you're gonna have to go to Chicago with Rudy.Darius panicked. He couldn't go that far, and especially not with Rudy. He thought for a

moment, and realized something. He could bring something to the table. Food. He could bring food

to the table. He had two chunks of meat that could feed the family for a few day.May I be excused? He couldn't hide the excitement in his voice.

His parents nodded, and he took off. As the screen door shut behind him, his father took his

remaining ham from the plate, and began eating it.Darius ran as fast as he could. He reached the water hole in about 5 minutes, and found the

boys still stuck out of the hole. He ripped the cliff Wallace from his pseudo tomb. As he reached in to

grab the water Wallace, he was alarmed. He pulled out the boys arm, which had large teeth marks in it.

Apparently a fox did live in that hole.Darius cut his losses, and went over to the cliff. He was happy to discover most of the brain

matter was gone, and the blood was slowly seeping into the dirt. He threw the cliff Wallace over his

shoulder, and ran home. There was nothing but the road to cross, and Darius did it with gusto. He ran to the shed behind

the house, the rain and the moon his only accomplices. As he got inside, he threwthe body to the floor.

He scrambled around to find the matches (wouldn't it be nice if Pa actually fixed the eletric, but hedoesn't have time I guess) and a candle. He struck the gold mine, both within the confines of the moon

    light barely entering the window.

He lit the candle and looked over the walls. He found the parry knife and a small hand saw. It

    would have to do.

\ He put the candle out, and grabbed the boys hair. He drug the boy out of the shed, and back

towards the woods on the outside of the property.

How was this gonna work? He had killed a few stragglers that had come along, but those weremost rabbits and feral dogs. Never a human.

He decided to remain in the rain, so the blood would wash off easier. He picked up the boys

arm, and the saw. He felt nauseous, and it only went away as the saw hit the bone. He was happy theboy didn't bleed all over him. The sound of cutting a bone was amazing. He was content.

The lower arm fell to the ground, while Darius clung to the upper arm. He threw it aside, and

moved to the leg, same side, left. It's not important how he mapped his execution, all that mattered was how delightful it was.

Not because it turned him on or anything sick like that. He was gonna feed his family. H was gonna

pull his weight. It took about an horror. Boy had been dead too long, so there was no blood. But he had no way

to carry it back to the house. So he began cutting chunks off of the forearm, and sliding them into his

pocket. The parry knife made it like butter. Sure it was rusted, but you can cook that taste out, right.

He filled his pockets, and decided to run his current bounty back to the house. He made sure toopen the creaky screen door quietly. He put the chunks in some parchment paper, and stuck it in the

freezer. He went back for more. He needed more.

This went on until 6am. He didn't sleep the next day. He was shaking. With excitement. Hedelighted in showing the masses of chaos to his mother. She was perplexed how he'd found them, but it

quickly fell to the wayside of genuine excitement. His father, upon arriving home, also let a blind eye

fall on the ambiguous origin of the meat, and decided to cook it.God, son, this is amazing. Tastes just like ham.

Darius smiled with an ominous glee. They were proud. The baby even ate some. Then, as if

by fate, a knock came at the front door.

Pa lumbered over, and opened it. It was Mother Wallace. Her face was aged from the last timeDarius had seen it, just the day before. It was white, and to be honest, if there was a pastel white, it

    would've been that.

What's the matter, Margaret? Pa seemed to care a little too much. Darius knew it wasn't fairto be mad at him for his concern, but it kept Pa from really acknowledging Darius' trimuph.

My boys haven't come yet. We've been looking for them since 7 last night. I know your son

picked up to go swimming. She meandered over to Darius, and asked him if he'd seen them. Darius wasn't a fan of

profanity, but he didn't much mind the art of deceit.

They threw a rock at me, mam. I was gonna tell, and they ran into the woods.Horrible lie, though it worked. She hung her head in defeat, and began to leave. Darius got an

idea. An awful idea. He stood up, and became the opposite of his previous self. The monster from the

night before became a perfect gentleman.

You look hungry, Mrs. Wallace. Would you like to have a piece of meat? Her eyes looked back, longing for resolve. After a few minutes of debating, she nodded. Pa

handed her a piece too taste, and she, almost without hesitation, bit in. She smiled, but only a little.

The glimmer of satisfaction was only as permanent as the taste in her mouth. That's amazing, where'd you get this.

Pa looked at Darius, a tremendous gleam of pride in his eyes.

Ask the man himself.Darius starred at them, a proud and malevolent smile forming on his face. Any hope of the

young man, the gentle giant, was gone. He loved it. And when you find a new hobby which placates

you as this did him, there's only one concern. You have to find a way to keep doing it.
