“Oh, Lord, Search Me”

“O LORD, you have searched me and known me! You

know when I sit down and when I rise up; you discern my

thoughts from afar. You search out my path and my lying

down and are acquainted with all my ways. Even before a

word is on my tongue, behold, O LORD, you know it

altogether. You hem me in, behind and before, and lay

your hand upon me. Such knowledge is too wonderful for

me; it is high; I cannot attain it” (Ps 139:1-6, ESV).

Poor ol’ Samuel

The Lord said: “Behold, I am about to do a thing in Israel at which the two ears of everyone who hears it will tingle. On that day I will I will fulfill against Eli all that I have spoken against his house, from beginning to end. And I declare to him that I am about to punish his house forever, for the iniquity that he knew, because his sons were blaspheming God and he did not restrain them. Therefore I swear to the house of Eli that the iniquity of Eli’s house shall not be atoned for by sacrifice or offering forever” (1 Sm 3:10-14, ESV).
