when you use transitions…with periods…

*While they are possible to use, semi-

colons are typically not common. For this

reason, try avoiding them.

If you do not know how to properly

punctuate with transitions, you run the

risk of creating run-on sentences, which

are no-no‟s when you write in English.

Example:

We have to leave now, otherwise, we

mean the same thing. They can be used

in the same way. They are both used for

specific lists or examples…

***When they start a sentence, you

MUST follow them with a complete

sentence structure!

Wrong: Seattle has produced some very

important bands. For instance, Nirvana,

Chains. This is not a complete

sentence.
