Dangarfield A88 Dangarfield A88 was known as “Big Boy”.

He topped the Inaugural Dawson River Santa Gertrudis Sale in 1989 when he sold to the Strathmore Stud for $11,000.

On behalf of our family, I would like to welcome you to our 25th Anniversary Twilight Sale – a good opportunity to celebrate, and for us to say thank you to all who have stood beside us and helped us achieve what we have over this time.

So many changes have happened over the last 25 years it is hard to imagine that the next 25 will have as many, but no doubt there will be.

Some of the stand-out changes over the last three decades that come to mind would have to be the age at which the cattle are sold. Three-year-old bulls at auction are now uncommon, and bullocks are sold 12-24 months younger than they used to be. The reduction in farming and the introduction of Leucaena is another major change for us.

Others changes would have to be the time needed to travel between Dangarfield and Kingswood – now halved thanks to the Taroom-Roma Road being bitumened, and the increase in technology with computers, internet and mobile phones. Running costs and labour shortages have changed dramatically – personally we were running three properties with three staff, now we run five properties with two full-time staff and when needed, causal labour is employed.

Basically this has all helped to show that highly profitable cattle with little input costs are ever-increasingly important. Maybe I am biased, but I feel it is hard to find a breed, especially for our area, that can help you achieve your goals more than Santa Gertrudis do. Open to all markets, weight for age, finishing ability off pasture or grain, and ease of management are all aspects of what this breed has to offer, and many other breeds are benchmarked against the Santa for this. The market this year in general has felt the effects of an extended dry and over-supply, but one thing that you can be sure of is that quality cattle always sell well on the day.

Life on the land never seems to have a dull moment, with plenty of challenges thrown in along the way. Since writing these notes 12 months ago, most of us have had to overcome our fair share of them. Last summer was definitely one of the drier ones we have seen for a couple of years, and for some of you it is still a very ordinary season. For many people who were able to get under some rain, they actually received too much, with patches of

Queensland recording record floods. We were one of the lucky ones and were able to avoid any extreme weather. Sure, we were dry enough at the commencement of 2013 but there were plenty of you worse off than us. When our rain did arrive, it came in the perfect falls to break a dry spell. Our country, feed and cattle have all responded well.

I think that when you are able to inspect this draft of bulls, you will be able to see the benefits of a lucky run of seasons can do and that our cattle certainly have made the most of it. Also up for grabs at this sale will be 70 PTIC heifers. Six classified stud heifers (three are polled) will be sold individually, and the remaining 64 heifers (23 are polled) will be sold in six pens of half deck lots. All heifers are pure-bred, EU accredited and vendor-bred females.

We have not sold a line of heifers for quite a while and this offering will be a one-off as it is our intention to replace our cross-bred terminal herd with our own line of pure females. These heifers have a mixture of some of our tried and proven genetics and also some of our promising up and coming new bloodlines. That makes this group of females a unique opportunity for anyone chasing a pure Santa Gertrudis cow herd.

This year we are offering 97 bulls and 70 heifers, just under 50% of these are poll or scurred. The bulls on offer are by 22 different sires, five of which are represented by their first release offering. There are plenty of different bloodlines to select through, and this makes it possible for return clientele year in, year out to select replacement sires from Dangarfield.

This year’s sale draft were all weaned onto Leucaena where they stayed until the middle of July when they were started on a mix containing chaff and NutriMix bull pellets. We like to have our bulls prepared for a long working life, NOT fed for sale day! In their open grass paddocks the bulls are made to walk one kilometre from feed to water, meaning that they all walk four to six kilometres per day, keeping them fit and healthy. The exception to this are lots 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5. The heifers have not been fed any supplementary feed and are paddock prepared.

By the time that most of you are reading this, the Queensland Country Life “Win a Pen of Steers” winner will have been announced. Dangarfield has donated the ten steers for the competition this year and it is now the

second time we have done so. With half the proceeds going to the RFDS, we are proud to support such a worthy cause.

The four generations of Adams’ running Dangarfield have all strived for quality cattle and take great pride in what we do and produce. After seeing not only clients but also good family friends investing in their future from an offering of bulls that we put up in our sale, which have been several years in the making, and then being able to down a few prawns and cold beers with them afterwards is a very rewarding way to spend a day.

The more time I spend around the people involved in this breed the more I come to appreciate how lucky we all are. From the staff of the Santa Gertrudis Association, who keep things moving along, to fellow stud breeders and through to commercial producers, there are plenty of people involved throughout that I enjoy catching up with and sharing a beer with when we can. A Santa sale is as much a social day out as it is an important day of business for all concerned.

Since the purchase of Dangarfield in 1947, we have always strived to breed good quality, high fertility cattle that are easy-doing with a good temperament, therefore making them efficient to manage and increasing profits with little input costs. We believe that the draft of bulls this year reflects these goals well.

The stud was founded in 1983, and strict criteria is maintained to keep them producing at an optimum. Our motto, ‘Calf or Carcass’ has been in force for over 40 years. Heifers are joined at twelve months of age and must calve unassisted. All females must go in calf each year thereafter or be turned over to carcass. There are only two ways that a cow doesn’t make you money annually; she dies, or you don’t sell her if she fails to reproduce. Our stud sires are joined to approximately 50 females, and if they don’t obtain 90% or better PTIC, are removed from stud duties.

We now run three separate entities within our breeding herd; stud, pure-bred commercial and a cross-bred terminal herd. If any sire doesn’t deliver the standard we expect from them we are not afraid to downgrade them and try and replace them if need be. This is how we apply pressure to our sires to make sure they are holding up their end of the bargain and it also keeps the fresh bloodlines coming through.

For each sale bull, their dam’s calving dates and calving interval are supplied. The calving interval is calculated automatically by Herd Magic from when the first calf is born. It is the average number of days between calving dates across a dam’s breeding lifespan. A fertile young cow may be penalised on this system, but it becomes a stronger indicator when more progeny are recorded. We have decided to supply this data in our catalogue because we believe they are among some of the best within the breed.

We have always strived to produce cattle with a low birth weight, rapid growth, with the constitution and ability to easily put on condition with high fertility and good temperament. Our herd has already done the hard yards to produce this. It has been developed on these standards for longer than I have been around and it will continue to be pressured to achieve all of these goals.

No other sire has come close to having such an impact on our herd when compared to what Quarterback (P) has already achieved. Within two seasons of his progeny being marketed, 27 sons have sold at auction to average $11,740 and gross $317,000. Eleven sons have been sold privately out of the paddock also. Quarterback (P) also holds the title for being the sire of our record top-priced bull at $37,500 for Torrent (PS), who sold to Hardigreen Park Stud.

Two sons have been retained, one of them, Tornado, has a very impressive top crop of weaners recently taken off their mothers and we have some high expectations of them. We have used another two sons in our AI program, Torrent (PS) and Typhoon (P). They have both given us some top calves, proving that this bloodline breeds on well.

Semen of Quarterback (P) has been sold into three states and also exported to Paraguay, South Africa, Zambia and Namibia.

The constitution of Quarterback is something that has to be seen to be believed. People who have inspected him here at home have trouble believing us that he is not on feed. He holds his condition all year round, so much so that if you saw him in October after his spell season you would think he had been grain fed! This amazing constitution and doing ability off grass is a trait he passes on strongly and we are keen to get this trait through our herd as much as possible for pasture finishing.

Our Quarterback (P) daughters are shaping up well as young mothers with good fertility and are turning off sappy weaners.

Quarterback (P) has sustained a hip injury this year and at this stage we are unsure if he will be able to serve cows in the future. We hope to commence our first on-property ET program this year, and you know who we will plan to use for that?!

The big gentle giant of Dangarfield. When he was representing us on the show circuit, Lieutenant was a dream to look after from day one. The only trouble was when he stood on our toe! He weighed just over 1200kg at the Brisbane Ekka in 2004 as a three-year-old, after working a short season (unfed) at Dangarfield in 2003. We took Lieutenant in to the Taroom Show in 2011 for ‘Guess the Weight’ and with five weeks of light feeding after coming out of 55 cows, he weighed 1212kg at 9.5 years of age. He is a bit of a pet around here and can be scratched out in the paddock. My niece and nephew can also sit on him and now it is a bit of a struggle to lift them up that high!

Lieutenant was retained because it is very rare to find an individual with his size, breed character, docility and looseness, and still have a near perfect sheath. Lieutenant’s dam (516) had seven calves with a 360-day calving interval. His daughters are particularly impressive and are valued breeders and are turning out some very impressive progeny.

For the last two seasons, Lieutenant has covered our AI team to give us our best chance of producing a top shelf line of daughters – that’s how much we think of them. Two sons have also now been retained.

In total, 47 sons have sold at auction to average just over $6,200 with a top of $12,000 for Quatro (PS) selling to Cree Stud. Lieutenant’s progeny can be found in lots 22, 28, 50, 72 and 99.

In Patrol Chief we found a bull by Kactus Jack out of a Frankinstein daughter combined with the Capricorn Glengarry blood in her, this meant we had some of our best blood lines over the last 10 years or more within the one animal. His dam has now had nine calves with a 366-day calving interval.

Patrol Chief was an impressive individual. Long, thick, soft and loose skinned, he had all the best qualities from his pedigree coming out in him and he passes this on to his progeny.

Until 2010, Patrol Chief had only been used in multiple joinings with 60+ cows. In the 2009-2010 joining he did a half-season single-sired, and since then has been single-sire mated for the entire seasons.

Halfway through the2011/2012 joining season, Patrol Chief was found crippled in the middle of his paddock. Since he was making no sign of recovery, he had to be put down. Two sons have been retained to replace him, and semen from Patrol Chief will now be used in our AI/ET program.

To date 16 sons have sold to gross just over $150,000 and average just over $9,400 with a top of $24,000 for Titan (P) selling to the Allendale Stud and a second top of $17,000 for Tycoon (P) selling to the Greenup/Eidsvold studs.

Cooper was purchased privately for $25,000 at the 2008 Ekka, after he won his strong class that day. I noticed the consistency of the Obergs the couple of years before this and decided Cooper (PS) had enough quality about him to stick my neck out and buy him with plenty of bone, a dark slick skin and a good set of testicles and tidy sheath and a strong polled head. Cooper (PS) has definitely reproduced himself. Progeny are thickset, with a great carcass and a good skin type as their standout qualities.

His daughters are also particularly impressive. Each year there seems to be a Cooper (PS) daughter or two amongst my pick of the drop. He has been used in multiple joined paddocks each season and has proven himself to be a consistent calf-getter.

To date 12 sons at auction have averaged just over $6,000 with a top of $16,000 for an Australian Santa Gertrudis commercial bull record, sold in 2012 to Peter and Shari Knudsen. Six sons that have been identified have also been sold privately and one son, Umpire, has also been retained.

Due to injury in 2010/2011 season Cooper (PS) has just the two sons for sale this year at lot 5 and 76.

Legend was purchased as the equal top priced unled bull at the Santa Central sale in 2009 for $16,000.

Here at Dangarfield we all appreciate the placid nature and easy doing ability of the Legend progeny.

If you want to breed big, easy doing, quiet bullocks to turn off pasture, I strongly suggest having a good look through this offering of Legend sons. We have retained three sons of Legend for our stud and commercial herds for this purpose.

Legend himself is a very active sire. In his first year he returned a preg-test result of 54/55 PTIC. In his second year he came up with 54/56 PTIC. We have retained plenty of daughters and they are returning good pregnancy test results.

Legend is a big sire with great length, 1150kg in his working clothes, a bombproof nature with large bone and a good coat. He produces a consistent line of progeny that are easy to identify from a distance when driving around.

In his first offering eight of Legend’s sons were offered and sold at our 2012 sale, to bring an average of $5,687 and a top price of $8,000 for Uptake who was purchased by Spean Pastoral Co.

A few years ago we were chasing some fresh blood to join to the maiden heifers. Samson (P) had no connections to any other bloodlines in the herd. He is a trim, tidy and sleek coated sire with a great nature. He is also a very active sire and gets more than his fair share of the calves.

Three sons of Samson (P) sold in last year’s sale as his first offering. They topped at $7,500 for Underbelly (P) who sold to Lee Falls Santa Gertrudis Stud, and they averaged $6,166.

Scale, softness and fertility come to mind when I think about Haymaker. He is by one of the best sires we have previously owned, Capricorn Glengarry, and out of a great cow, Dangarfield 362.

Dangarfield 362 had 8 calves with a 366 day calving interval. Two daughters bred on in the stud, and she only ever had the two sons, Haymaker and Kojo. Kojo topped the 2002 sale and held our stud’s record top price of $24,000 for many years, selling to the Drensmaine Stud. Kojo daughters are still prominent at Drensmain and have produced plenty of sale bulls for them.

Here is an interesting statistic for you all. We have produced 10 daughters (all through AI) of Haymaker of which six have gone into the stud. That six have produced 41 registered calves with an average of seven calves with an average calving interval of 367 days, demonstrating the strength of the female fertility in this bloodline.

Haymaker will be used in our future ET and AI programs.

By now Improvement wouldn’t need much of an introduction to most of you. We have been using him through our AI for many years now. This would have to be one of the most placid bloodlines to set foot on Dangarfield.

Improvement daughters are highly valued by us. Hard working, meaty, quiet, fertile cows are hard to find at times, but you are almost guaranteed to get one every time with an Improvement daughter – they have had progeny in our sale sell to $30,000.

This year we have only the one son at lot 24 representing Improvement but he is a full brother to Improvement’s highest priced son, Dangarfield Sniper (P), who topped our 2010 sale, selling to Rosevale Stud for $24,000.

We tried to purchase Braveheart at Santa Central but were unsuccessful when he made the top price of $37,500 and sold to the Warenda Stud. A couple of years later at the Warenda major reduction sale I was able to purchase a semen package, and the bull in this year’s sale is a result of that. Each year for the first couple of months of the joining season we put three of the better bulls selected for the commercial herd joining out to give us the best chance to produce top end replacement heifers and sale bulls. Harmony is one of the sires used for this purpose, and he has done this job well for the last couple of years. We are so impressed with our Harmony progeny that in 2012 we purchased his full brother, Sujo Lancer to replace him.

We purchased Fourex (P) in 2007 initially to join over maiden heifers, and to replace a half-brother to him that we thought plenty of. A couple of seasons ago we were in need of a polled sire with a good sheath to use in the stud. Fourex got the job and has produced a consistent line for this sale. Six out of the nine sons representing him are polled or scurred.

One of his standout sons, Dangarfield Versatile (PS) was shown this year, and at the time of printing this catalogue, he was undefeated on the show circuit. So far this year Versatile (PS) has won:

• Junior and Grand Champion Santa Gertrudis Bull at Wandoan,

• Junior and Grand Champion Bos Indicus Bull and 2nd in the ‘Super Bull’ at Taroom,

Kalahari was purchased in 2011 from Santa Central for $28,000 for the top priced unled bull and the top priced horned Santa Gertrudis bull sold in Australia that year.

We took a liking to Kalahari for his character, scale and carcass quality. Kalahari has a good, thick topline and is strong into the shoulders. He has a docile nature, but not when there is work to be done! He is very active and has been multiple sire mated for three seasons, siring more than his fair share of calves.

Kalahari is producing a consistent line of progeny and he is certainly putting his stamp on them.

We want to keep sires like this in our herd to be able to produce replacement daughters to go into the cow herd to maintain size and character.

IMPORTANT NOTICEAll bids shall be treated as offers made upon the following Terms and Conditions of Sale and all persons present are admitted to attend the sale on the basis that they have notice of these Terms and Conditions.

1. The highest bidder shall, subject to Condition 2, be the purchaser provided that the vendor reserves the right to bid either by himself or through his agent or auctioneer and should any dispute arise among the bidders for any lot, during or immediately after sale of the lot, it shall be settled at the auctioneers absolute discretion who may, should one of the disputants advance, put the lot or lots up again. The bidding from time to time shall be regulated by the auctioneer and no bid shall be retracted.

2. The sale will be conducted on a “Sale” or “No Sale” basis whereby the lot for sale shall be knocked down to the highest bidder, but the sale will be subject to the acceptance of the highest bid by the vendor who will immediately after the fall of the hammer declare “Sale” or “No Sale”. Should the vendor reject the bid of the highest bidder such bidder will have the right of first refusal of the lot at the vendor’s nominated price for one hour after the lot has been passed out of the ring on the Terms and Conditions herein set forth in so far as they shall apply.

3. The details of the purchaser, the purchase price and the lot sold as recorded by the sale clerk for and on behalf of the auctioneer shall be equally binding on both purchaser and vendor.

4. The auctioneer expressly reserves the right, without giving any reason therefore, to:-(a) Refuse to acknowledge any bid;(b) Withdraw any lot or lots before or during the sale;(c) Exclude any person from the auction venue should it think fit.

5. Each lot in all cases shall be at the risk and expense of the purchaser, upon acceptance of his bid by the vendor or upon acceptance of the highest bidder’s offer by the vendor whichever shall be the earlier.

6. Except as expressly provided in these Terms and Conditions of Sale no guarantee or warranty shall be given in respect of any lot sold under these Conditions as to pedigree, sex, age, breeding condition or otherwise howsoever, and no guarantee, warranty or condition whatsoever shall be implied from any affirmation made before or at the time of the sale, or from any circumstances of the sale, but in all cases where a guarantee is intended the same shall attach and be enforceable only if reduced to writing before delivery of the lot and signed by the vendor or by the auctioneer acting as agent for the vendor, and the absence of such writing shall be conclusive evidence in case of dispute that no guarantee warranty or condition whatsoever was given or implied.

7. In the event of any dispute in respect to the sale of any lot:-(i) The purchaser shall nevertheless be obliged to pay to the auctioneer the full purchase price and any other moneys or interest payable by the purchaser in accordance with these terms and conditions.(ii) The vendor and the purchaser shall resolve the dispute between themselves;(iii) The auctioneer shall have no liability or responsibility in regard to the dispute; and(iv) No lot shall be returned to the auctioneer and the purchaser shall indemnify the auctioneer for all costs, expenses and damages which the auctioneer is put to or incurs by reason of the purchaser so doing.

8. The name of the vendor for whom the auctioneer acts is acknowledged to have been furnished to purchasers prior to sale and further particulars will in all cases be furnished to a purchaser if required. In the case of any dispute the remedy of the purchaser shall be against the vendor only and in no case or under any circumstances against the auctioneer who is to be regarded for all intents and purposes as agent for a disclosed principal.

9(a) PAYMENT - Unless prior credit arrangements have been made in writing with the auctioneer the full purchase price for each lot shall be due and payable to the auctioneer in cash upon acceptance of the highest bid or the highest bidder’s offer by the vendor and prior to delivery. Notwithstanding that delivery is given to or possession obtained by the purchaser or his representative prior to the payment of the purchase money in full the property in any lot which is sold shall not pass to the purchaser until the full purchase price and all cheques, promissory notes, bills of exchange, acceptance orders or drafts given in connection with such payment have been paid and liquidated, and until property shall pass, the purchaser shall hold such lot as bailee, provided that in all cases should such payment not have been made and liquidated within 14 days of the date of the sale the auctioneer reserves the right to:-(i) Rescind the contract on behalf of the vendor and repossess and resell any lot;(ii) Recover from the purchaser interest upon the purchase price at a rate per annum

which aggregates the 90 day Bill Rate plus two percentum. For the purposes of this condition “the 90 day Bill Rate” is the rate published regularly in the Australian Financial Review, expressed as a percentage per annum. If at any time the Financial Review ceases to publish a 90 day Bill Rate, the auctioneer shall determine and advise the purchaser of the interest rate to apply for the purpose of this condition.(b) The auctioneer is selling as the del credere agent of the vendor and the full purchase price of any lot sold shall be payable by the purchaser to the auctioneer and be fully recoverable by the auctioneer in its own name.

10. If the purchaser shall neglect or fail to comply with any of the within conditions, any lot purchased by him may be immediately resold by public auction or private contract, with or without notice, at the risk of the former purchaser, who will be held responsible for all loss and expenses arising out of such resale, and shall not participate in any profit accruing therefrom.

11. Any vendor or purchaser removing the sale number from any lot after it has been sold will fully indemnify all affected parties for any loss, costs or damage should the lot be wrongly delivered.

12. The purchasers, if more than one, shall be jointly and severally bound by these Terms and Conditions, and shall jointly and severally carry out and perform same.

13. Any person who advances a bid on a lot shall do so on the expressed condition and understanding that should that person’s bid be the highest bid and such bid is accepted by the vendor, then that person will be held personally liable for the price so agreed upon, regardless of the fact that that person may be acting on behalf of another party, either disclosed or undisclosed to the vendor or the auctioneer, provided however, that this Condition shall not in any way negate the vendor’s right to claim against any principal and in such case the bidder’s liability shall be construed to be by way of guarantee.

14. The auctioneer may, should it think fit, make arrangements on a purchaser’s behalf for the feeding, watering, trucking, shipping of and general attendance to any lot after sale but no responsibility will be accepted by the auctioneer and all such service will be at the purchaser’s risk and expense.

15. No lot will be delivered until the sales invoice has been checked and signed by the purchaser or his duly authorised representative.

16(a) Each lot in all cases shall be sold with all faults, if any, and excepting those conditions and warranties implied by the Trade Practices Act or any applicable State legislation which cannot be contractually excluded and excepting conditions and warranties expressly contained in these Terms and Conditions of Sale, any express or implied condition, statement or warranty, statutory or otherwise, is hereby excluded. The auctioneer is not liable in respect of any error, misdescription or omission in any particulars appearing or stated regarding the descriptions or pedigrees of any lot offered for sale and no such error, misdescription or omission shall entitle the purchaser to annul the sale or reject the lot or claim any compensation, damage or abatement in price.

(b) Each lot will be sold subject to passing all veterinary tests required by the law of the State or country to which the purchaser intends to transport that particular lot, such tests to be undertaken at the purchaser’s expense and concluded immediately following the sale. In the event of a lot failing to pass these tests, the sale shall be null and void, any purchase moneys paid by the purchaser shall be refunded and property in the lot shall revert to or remain with the vendor.

17. GUARANTEES OF FERTILITY:-

17.1 BULLS. Save and except for calves at foot, all bulls are guaranteed breeders and to so prove within six months of the date of sale or by reaching the age of 30 months whichever date shall be the later.

17.2 FEMALES. Save and except for female calves at foot, all females are guaranteed to be in calf or go into calf within six months of the date of sale or by the age of 30 months whichever date shall be the later. A positive pregnancy test certified by a qualified veterinary surgeon shall be sufficient evidence that the animal is in calf.

17.3 Claims under Clauses 17.1 and 17.2 guarantees of fertility shall be made to the vendor within six months from the date of sale or prior to the animal entering a quarantine area other than on the vendor’s property.

17.3.1 All claims must be accompanied by a veterinary certificate which shall clearly identify the basis of the claim.

17.3.2 Infertility resulting from injury or disease occuring after the sale of the animal shall not be covered by this guarantee.

17.3.3 The vendor retains the right to have the animal placed on a property nominated by him or returned to his own property for further assessment of fertility for a period not exceeding six months. In the event of the animal being proven fertile within the

period, the costs incurred shall be borne by the purchaser. In the event of the animal not being proven fertile within the period the costs incurred shall be borne by the vendor.

17.4 LIABILITY OF A VENDOR. Except for costs defined elsewhere in the conditions of sale, the liability of a vendor in respect of claims relating to fertility shall not exceed the purchase price of the animal(s) or to provide mutually agreed upon replacement animals.

17.5 REFUNDS. In the event of a claim being substantiated and the purchase price being refunded, the animal/s shall automatically become the property of the vendor and be returned to him or disposed of according to his instructions at his expense.

17.6 This guarantee shall be voided by the purchaser if -(a) The animal is returned to the vendor -(i) in poor physical condition or with any injury;(ii) tests carried out on behalf of the vendor within fourteen days of such return proved positive to any diseases which may affect the animals fertility or ability to breed naturally; or(b) the purchaser has collected and stored semen from a bull or embryos from a female.

17.7 In the event of a dispute as to whether a lot is a breeder, such dispute shall be resolved by the vendor and the purchaser and the auctioneer, while he will use his best endeavours to assist, shall have no liability or responsibility in that regard. In the event that a lot is alleged or proved not to be a breeder, the purchaser shall nevertheless be obliged to pay the auctioneer the full purchase price and any other monies or interest payable by the purchaser in accordance with these Terms and Conditions.

18(a) Each lot shall be at the risk of the vendor in respect of any damage or injury, whether by disease, accident or otherwise, for the period that the lot be in the custody of the auctioneer, PROVIDED THAT the auctioneer, its servants, agents and employees shall use all reasonable care to protect and control the lot while it is in the auctioneer’s custody AND PROVIDED THAT when a lot has been sold, it shall be at the risk of the purchaser in all respects.

(b) If any vendor brings to the sale premises any lot which is dangerous, or infected with any disease, that vendor shall be liable for all injury, damages, costs, losses, or expenses which the auctioneer may sustain, incur or be put to either directly or indirectly as a result of the vendor so doing. The auctioneer reserves the right, at its absolute discretion, to exclude from the sale, or put out of the sale venue or dispose of, any lot which in its opinion shows signs of any disease, whether infectious, contagious or not, or of any serious fault or of being dangerous.

19. DELIVERY - Except at the discretion of the auctioneer no lot shall be delivered to the purchaser unless payment of the purchase money together with any additional charges incurred including those expenses incurred by the auctioneer pursuant to Condition 14 hereof, is first made by the purchaser to the auctioneer. Release of lots may be withheld by the auctioneer until personal cheques are cleared.

20. In these Conditions:-(a) References to “Auctioneer” shall be taken to mean as the context so admits, the selling agent or any member, subsidiary or related corporation or body, officer, agent or employee thereof, authorised by the vendor to conduct the sale of the lot;(b) “Purchaser” shall have the meaning ascribed to it in Condition 1;(c) “Vendor” shall mean the person or corporation upon whose account lots are offered for sale and where a stud or farm is named shall mean the proprietor of that stud or farm;(d) “Lot” shall be taken to mean the animal offered for sale and/or sold by the auctioneer on behalf of a vendor.

IMPORTANT NOTICEThe selling agent, its members, subsidiary or related corporations, officers, agents, and employees for themselves and for those for whom they act while exercising due care provide all information without responsibility and give no guarantee whatsoever as to its accuracy.

All persons who attend the sale do so entirely at their risk and the selling agent, its members, subsidiary or related corporations, officers, agents, employees and its principals, for themselves and for those for whom they act, do not assume or accept any responsibility or liability of whatever nature for any injury or damage whatsoever which may occur.

The hammer price is exclusive of GST but GST will be applied to the final hammer price and included on the invoice.
