PROUDLY SUPPORTING THE CENTER FOR CHILD PROTECTION

a children’s advocacy center

Welcome to the 7th annual Dancing with the Stars Austin gala. Year after year, the success of this event continues to grow because of each of you. The simple fact is that your generosity helps child victims in Travis County. Whether you are a long-time supporter of the Center or someone who has just been introduced to the important work we do, your willingness to come out and support our children is appreciated.

Each child who walks through the Center’s doors lives with a reality that most can’t imagine. In the face of that reality, each also shows a determination to get past their abuse. By working with the professionals at the Center, these children and their families take the necessary steps to move forward with their lives. With our help, and yours, we can end the cycle of abuse in Travis County.

We are so excited to bring you tonight’s performances. Our 10 Austin celebrities have been working hard for months preparing for their big night. Whether you are here to experience the elegance and sophistication of the fox trot or the lively flair of the salsa, there’s sure to be something for everyone. The best part is that YOU get to pick who takes home the coveted mirror ball trophy!

Last, but certainly not least, thank you to our title sponsor Lexus of Austin. Their commitment to our children continues to be an inspiration to me and the staff at the Center. I would also like to thank our many other event sponsors and guests who are here tonight. Without you, we would not be able to continue serving those who need us most.

We hope you have a great time at Dancing with the Stars Austin!

SABRINA BARKER-TRUSCOTTCo-Owner, Satori Method Academy

Sabrina Barker-Truscott has been a dancer and fitness enthusiast for the past 20 years - beginning at the tender age of four with ballet, jazz and gymnastics. Sabrina studied Performance Arts at The neighborhood Playhouse in new York where she worked on Broadway, in commercials, on soap operas and in films. Eventually Sabrina became a professional Latin and Ballroom dancer/instructor and founded All Ways Dance and Austin Wedding Dance. She loves the flow of energy between two people and the way that it can be expressed through dance, theatre and sharing.

Sabrina has teamed up with her husband Tristan to cultivate the expansion of The Satori Method Academy - a way to merge a clear and engaged mind with a vibrant and energetic body, igniting one’s true presence, power and potential. She brings an amazing amount of knowledge, excitement (and of course humor) to this comprehen-sive Mind-Body-Spirit system, creating fitness bootcamp workouts and mind-body products that are extremely unique and get results. Sabrina also teaches daily Westlake Zumba classes.

Since directing and emceeing the original Dancing With the Stars Austin in 2007, Sabrina has continued to follow her passion for creating quality, heart-based productions and products that that can change lives. She is living proof that being fit, thinking positive and living from the heart can keep you young, healthy, happy and constantly joyful.

The Center for Child Protection, a nationally accredited children’s advocacy center, is the first stop for children in Travis County who are suspected victims of sexual abuse, serious physical abuse and for children who have witnessed a violent crime. The Center is a child-friendly, specially-equipped facility where children go for recorded forensic interviews, medical exams, counseling and intervention during the investigation and prosecution of child abuse cases. It is the only nonprofit in Travis County involved in the investigation of crimes against children.
