Dance Heginbotham unveils three-part, site inspired piece in the Winter Garden at Brookfield Place, June 17-19
Arts Brookfield and Lower Manhattan Cultural Council present the choreography of John Heginbotham as part of River To River 2016
New York, NY, May 26, 2016 — Co-commissioned by Arts Brookfield and Lower Manhattan Cultural
Council (LMCC) as part of the River To River Festival, the innovative Dance Heginbotham company will
present a three-part, site-inspired piece in the Winter Garden at Brookfield Place, influenced by the 10-story
glass-vaulted pavilion. Free and open to the public, three unique performances from Friday, June 17 to
Sunday, June 19, 2016 will give audiences an intimate look at the work of contemporary choreographer
John Heginbotham, about whom the New Yorker says, “The mind of John Heginbotham is a magical place.” Dance Heginbotham has quickly established itself as one of the most adventurous and exciting new
companies on the American contemporary dance scene. The New York-based ensemble has been
celebrated for its vibrant athleticism, humor, and theatricality, as well as its commitment to collaboration.
Each piece is celebrated as having its own unique personality and energy. “Dance Heginbotham is one of the most exciting new companies performing in the contemporary dance
world today.” said Debra Simon, vice president and artistic director of Arts Brookfield. “We are honored to
have John Heginbotham choreograph a piece inspired by the Winter Garden for the River To River Festival,
and are looking forward to sharing his work.”
“It’s incredible to have joined Lower Manhattan Cultural Council in time to get the fifteenth annual River To
River Festival on its feet,” said Andrew D. Hamingson, president LMCC. “We know that bringing live,
contemporary art to the Winter Garden at Brookfield Place will inspire those who live, work, learn and play
downtown and introduce them to critical voices of our time.” At Brookfield Place, musicians and dancers will take the Winter Garden stage to Erno Dohnanyi’s Serenade
in C Major for String Trio, solo guitar music by Heitor Vila-Lobos, and Luigi Boccherini’s Quintette No. 4 in G
Major, III. Fandango. Live music is an integral part of Heginbotham’s creative vision.
Dance Heginbotham is a part of Arts Brookfield’s ongoing commitment to contemporary dance and arts
programming. Arts Brookfield is well-known for presenting diversity in the arts and making world-class
cultural experiences accessible. For more information about Dance Heginbotham and the full schedule of
