Custom Dampers

6 ARROW UNITED

By using existing models as building blocks, Arrow United isable to offer a line of custom dampers for integration intoventilating, heating and air conditioning units.

Through close coordination with designers, Arrow Unitedhas developed dampers that not only exceed the originalrequirements for low-leakage and modulation control, butalso install easily and mesh with the original equipment.

Custom dampers include applications for face and bypass, mixing box, fresh air (dampers and/or louvers) return-air andmulti-zone (double or triple deck).

Any of these can be modified to meet specific requirementsof performance criteria or actuation needs.

Illustrated is Arrow United's Multi-Zone Damper. Availablein aluminum (.125" frame) or galvanized steel (16 ga.frame), it is a highly efficient damper, with minimum leak-age, and is compatible with most air handling equipment.

Aluminum/with Arrow-Foil bladesLeakage less than 1/2% at 5" wg.

Aluminum/with Pin-Lock bladesLeakage less than 3/4% at 4" wg.

Galvanized steel/Model 354Leakage less than 4 cfm per sq. ft. at 3.5 wg.

For detailed specifications, see individual data sheets.

Operators and Accessories

ARROW UNITED 7

Arrow United dampers can be factory coordi-nated with a variety of actuators such asmanual, electric, pneumatic or electrohydraulic. We can provide dampers with linkage andmounts for actuators, or mount actuatorssupplied by you, or (as often proves economi-cally advisable), include actuators recom-mended by us. In every instance, our experi-enced technicians ensure that you get efficientdamper actuation.

JackshaftingJackshaft assemblies extend the output powerof actuators to multiple-panel dampers withoutloss of torque or damper effectiveness. Theseassemblies provide a heavy, continuous shaftthat spans the damper frames and includeproper linkage connections to each panel. The jackshafting can accommodate anactuator that is either inside or outside theairstream.Without effective distribution of actuator power, even a damper of highest quality will provideinefficient service. We therefore consider itimportant to review each damper order beforeimplementing it.The adjacent illustration shows the applicationof typical jackshafting.

The Arrow Uni-MountThe Arrow Uni-Mount is an ingenious devicethat maintains the quality of damper perfor-mance while lowering the cost of mountingactuators. It is designed to accept all of theactuators normally used in damper installa-tions. The actuator must be identified whenthe damper/Uni-Mount order is placed. The Arrow Uni-Mount is extremely versatile.Though used principally when the actuatormust be installed in the air stream, it can beused in external installations as well. TheArrow Uni-Mount is for application withactuators of the pneumatic-piston type but isalso often used with electric actuators.Uni-Mount Features Alternate function of the actuator fromnormally-closed to normally-open can bedetermined and changed by a simple 5-minuteprocedure. When lack of space creates interference forpneumatic actuators, the actuator-position canbe easily changed from parallel to the air-stream to perpendicular to the airstream. Uni-Mounts can be ordered to incorporatesolid shaft extensions for operating damperstwo and three panels in width. The damper panel is factory-fitted so thatfield installation of the mount is a fast, simpleprocedure. Rigidly constructed and designed forrepeatability, the Uni-Mount will maintainoriginal performance during prolonged use.
