Dear fellow anglers,

Another great year has passed. It was a year in which we have all witnessed the early consequences of the climate changes. We have experienced long periods of extremely dry conditions in spring time, as well as fl ooding caused by heavy rainfall and very low temperatures during the summer. This has affected all anglers and people that enjoy outdoor activities. Although a small gesture, this catalogue has been printed CO2 neutral and a number of trees have been planted as compensation. Let’s hope more companies follow us, so that we all try to preserve the angling environment for our future generation.

What will the coming angling season bring us? Although we can-not look into the future and cannot guarantee angling success for everybody, we are able to help our fellow anglers to increase the chances of success with great new innovative products!

In Quick® reels we introduce a rear drag version of our hit seller Shadow. The innovative rear drag function lifts the total industry standard to a completely new level! The popular Shadow series has been further completed thanks to the introduction of free spool and baitcast reels. Additional highlights in the Quick® reel series are Toxic, Sylt, Impressa, Airway, and many more.

We innovate to offer products that are more user-friendly and help you catch more fi sh. Next to great additions in reels, 2012 will be the year of many new DAM rods. One of the greatest achievements is the new Futron® spinning rod series that has been made using 3rd

generation Nano-Carbon! Judging by the popularity of the Nano-fl ex series, this will defi nitely be a big hit. Other impressive new rod series are the Hybrid, Calyber Pro, and Shadow predator rods. We are also very proud of the Impressa, Power Tip, and additional Steel-power Red rods. Modern cool design, high quality, latest technique and ahead of trends in fi shing tackle. That is in short what our new Hayasaki concept is all about! This concept consists of Japanese style predator rods with color code, matching reel, and extremely cool tuning sets – all for an amazing price! The idea behind it, is that you can customize, mix and match the Hayasaki rods and reels so that they are perfectly matching.

Also in the MAD® carp range we did it again! MAD® Futron® rods that may be the lightest, fastest and at the same time thinnest carp rods you have ever seen! And check out the FSX and CSi bite indi-cators that can be paired with a tent light that goes on automati-cally when the fi sh bites!

As there is much more to discover, please just go through this new DAM catalogue and be suprised by all the new items. You will see for yourself that we want to make a positive difference in the world of angling together with you – maybe we are able to foresee the future of angling after all!

HISTORYCertain to be recognized by older anglers amongst us: The first appearance of what was to become D.A.M.

The oldest German fixed reel, QUICK® STANDARD. Even then it was available either with or without meter counter.

These reels are made of solid brass and are much sought amongst antiques collectors!

As fresh and successful today as it was then. The ingenious design of the first EFFZETT®.

Suppliers of quality in every area of an-gling, D.A.M was also one of the pioneers of fly-fishing. Every flyfisher with a feel for tradition will recognize this reel.

Since generations we have inspired many competitors and "copy mak-ers"! And why not? Anyhow, for a suc-cessful original there can’t be a higher evaluation than being copied by less creative people, because nobody would ever try to copy a less success-ful product.

So, being measured at the number of copies we already could regard our-selves easily as "market leader” again. Due to this reason we have decided to name some of our key products "Das Original" (= The Original) in the future. Moreover we will of course keep holding on to our slogan "inno-vation instead of imitation" and will so continue to set standards in the future.

Also regarding the features of several products we will keep holding on to the truth instead of following the gen-eral trend of exaggeration and we are pretty sure that this strategy will pay off sooner or later due to the old wisdom "honesty will last longest". So all in all we are quite well equipped to meet the combination of tradition and up-to-date appearance!

AIRWAY – the name for telescopic rods (a D.A.M. speciality). Together with QUICK® reels these rods are what gave “fishing tackle made in Germany” its reputation.

This reel is still to be found in many fishing cupboards today. For an extremely reasonable price even then, in lean times, it enabled aver-age earners to approach the water equipped with a modern reel.

DIRECT DRIVE SYSTEMThe Direct Drive System is our new gearing system where an especially cut massive brass drive gear and an also special cut stainless steel pinion gear are clutching without any deviation. This legendary and proven drive system minimizes inner friction, stabilizes the reel and guarantees minimum gearing sound as well as maximum durability and pres-sure resistance.

LINE LAY ADJUSTMENT SYSTEMThe Line Lay Adjustment System offers the possibility to adjust the winding point of a reel individually and thus to ensure perfect line-lay with different kinds of line with different diameters.

OVAL OSCILLATIONSYSTEMThe new patented OOS – Oval Oscilla-tion System is basically logical evolution of our worldwide known S-curve system. OOS gives the reel outstanding smooth gearing, an extremely even line lay and a longer lifetime than conventional reels.

MULTIDISC STATIC REAR DRAGThe drag knob which can be turned in a firm position is a further development of our Rear Drag systems. During drag pull or release the drag knob forms and homogenous unit with the reel body. Thus neither dirt or water can penetrate in to the drag.

MULTIDISC REAR DRAGThe Multidisc Rear Drag provides safe and comfortable handling. Several drag discs positioned in series transmit the ad-justed drag power to the spool. Fine and easy setting of line resistance is made possible even when playing the fish.

MULTIDISC FRONT DRAGThe effective front drag system is com-pletely integrated into the spool. Through the bigger drag surface the drag force can be well adjusted in a sensitive as well as in a powerful way.

MiCrO-Fine DrAG ADJuSTMenTThe Micro-Fine Drag adjustment was developed for fishing with thin lines, fine traces and for even more faster reaction of the drag system. It takes the strain off the DAMYL® during the decisive stages of playing the fish and avoids right from the beginning unintended line-breaking.

Free-SpOOL SYSTeMWhen developing our free-spool reels, we attached greatest importance to safe and easy handling. For this reason, the release lever is positioned at the rear of the reel. Our Free-Spool technique guarantees that, with closed bail, the fish can take line without feeling any resistance. By using the crank, the pre-adjusted drag power engages im-mediately and the fish can be played in the usual manner.

AnTi-TWiST SYSTeMMost of our reels feature Anti-Twist line rollers. The concavely shaped line rollers minimize the risk of DAMYL® being kinked and twisted when it is retrieved.

EFFECTIVE SPEED REGULATIONInstead of an extravagant gear system, our QUICK® multiplier reels feature a power crank adjustable in length. When playing the fish, you can adjust the crank arm in a flash and apply power as needed. Short crank arm for a fast retrieve. Long crank arm for more power when playing the fish.

MAGNESIUM TECHNOLOGYAt our new QUICK® top models the body as well as the rotor are made of extreme light weight and resistant Magnesium. That saves weight as well as gaining stability.

PRECISION BALL BEARINGSThey provide no-play function of all rotat-ing parts. The result is silent, smooth run-ning and long life due to minimum wear.

DOuBLe-SeALeD STAinLeSS STeeL BALL BEARINGSReels which are mainly used in saltwater are equipped with high-quality stainless steel ball bearings. THe WOrM-SHAFT LiFTinG SYSTeM (WOrM-SHAFT-SYSTeM)Enables extended spool lift which is a major feature of modern long-range casting reels. DAMYL® is perfectly laid over the entire spool length for long and accurate casts.

PERFECT LINE LAY (pATenT De 4035846)The outstanding S-Stroke-System of D.A.M. directs the spool lift in a way that criss-cross lay of DAMYL® on the spool is made possible. Thus, even thin or wet, braided lines do not cut in and glide off smoothly and perfectly.

QUICK® MAfter the very successful and EFTTEX awarded introduction of our “Retro” reel series Quick® 1000 – 4000 FD in 2007, we set ourselves several new goals in the fi shing reel development. Following our basic tradition of trendsetting innovation combined with technical passion, we decided to go one step further in the Magnesium reel technol-ogy and the Quick® M series is the according result!

every single part has been designed under the aspect of saving weight and gaining stability, so body, side plate, rotor and even the drag pin are made of 100 % Mag-nesium! The spool and most other parts are made from high grade Aluminium. This makes the reel about double as stable as a similar Aluminium reel, but as light weight or even lighter than a Graphite reel of comparable size. Using the traditional D.A.M. push button system also for front drag reels allows a spool change within seconds. The drag itself is completely sealed, waterproof and micro adjustable.

Another innovation is the especially shaped rubber cork handle knob that provides an unmatched grip and feeling. Moreover the reel consists of a complete rubber sealing of the side plate, of both sides of the handle connection, of the instant anti-reverse system as well as of the front drag system that protects the reel 100 % against penetrating water.

Available in 4 sizes from 100 m / 0,25 mm to 100 m / 0,55 mm!

QUICK® 1000–4000 FDThis very special reel project has been a long term wish for ourselves and surprised many of our true D.A.M.-fans! More than three and a half years of planning, prepara-tion, development and numerous test have been necessary in order to bring the leg-endary 1000 series back into life in its most modern version, and the result is stunning!

Technically the new 1000 series is based on the well proven and almost indestructible Direct-Drive system of an especially cut massive brass drive gear and an also special cut stainless steel pinion gear. The oscillation and line lay is guided by the well known S-oscillation system. Like in the old times the spool is equipped with a 4 point line lay adjustment system for extremely thin or thick lines. Also the very practical Quick®-Snap handle folding system from the past is part of the features.

QUICK® TOXICThe Quick® Toxic spinning reels are made of high grade dural-umnium which gives them unique stability, a compact and slim design, less tolerances, and increased durability. not only was the Quick® Toxic engineered by using the latest standards in reel technology, it also got an extremely cool and aggressive appearance!

These reels use the patented Elliptical Oscillation System (OOS) that basically is the evolved version of our worldwide known S-curve system. This unique construction gives the reel silk smooth gearing, a very even line-lay and a longer lifetime than conventional reels. Another great feature is the high tech Japanese style carbon handle and hard EVA handle knob. This handle design offers both comfort during long fi shing days and decreases the weight of the reel signifi cantly.

The Toxic is available in both front drag and rear drag version in sizes 20 to 40.

QUICK® SuMO COMpeTiTiOn 3000 rD – 6BBRight after the successful launch of the Sumo Competition coarse fi shing specimen brand, we started developing reels that fi t the needs for this specialist fi shing. Now we are very proud to present a reel that has been especially designed to fi sh tactically with light material in combination with feeders, match rods, and swing tip rods.

The reel is part of the Compact Design generation Quick reels and it has gotten the fantastic new drag features that were developed for the Shadow rear drag. The Sealed Drag Construction (SDC) that prevents dirt and grease to get into the drag, and the Power Drag System (PDS) that offers probably the highest drag power you Have ever seen at a rear drag reel.

QUICK® SHADOW FD AND RD The reels in the Shadow rear drag series are equipped with an extremely high drag power thanks to a brand new and unique Power Drag System (PDS). By using oversized drag washers and combine it with a special pressure technique, we have cre-ated rear drag reels with a drag power that almost equals the drag power of front drag reels. Next to that, we also introduce the Sealed Drag Construction (SDC) that keeps grease and dirt that naturally comes down the main shaft, away from the drag washers, so that the optimal drag power remains the same throughout the lifetime of the reel!

Thanks to these two innovations, we have tackled the main reason for anglers not to use rear drag reels; not enough drag power and decreasing drag function as the reel gets older.

These reels are also part of the Compact Design Generation Quick® reels, a true evolution in reel design! The general idea behind it is to design fi shing reels that are more compact, slim-mer, shorter and at the same time have increased line capacity. At the rear drag reels this philosophy resulted in 5 to 10% shorter reels, thanks to moving the rotor position backwards.

Just as with our Quick® A-Head spinning reels we wanted to be one step ahead of competition with the develop-ment of our Quick® A-Head BaitCast reel. This we have managed to achieve in even multiple ways and there-fore these reels combine features that currently cannot be found at any other comparable baitcast reel. This for example includes the complete aluminium construction of housing, both side plates, spool, handle, star drag and ad-justment knob which provides unbelievable strength and durability to the reel and makes it perfectly suitable for fi sh-ing with braided lines. For weight reduction as well as for smoother casting and turning the spool has been drilled and machine cut. With a super high speed gear ratio of 7.1:1 this baitcast reel retrieves as fast as a normal spin-ning reel, so the angler doesn't need to adapt to it. The big

needle bearing constantly assures an instant anti-reverse, even under extreme conditions like while jerking. The star drag as well as the adjustment knob are equipped with clearly recognizable rest positions. For a quick and easy spool change the side plate features a simple push button system. As a very special technical highlight the centrifu-gal spool drag is equipped with a 7 positions rest system. The numbering can be seen through a small window in the side plate. It can be hold by a small knob in the side plate and by turning the spool it can be set to the required number. Thereby an unintended reset is made impossible. Nanofl ex – this name is synonymous for a brand new and very special tech-nology that is now also used in the carbon fi bre production! As already known from other ranges of the nano technology, smallest possible parts are thereby integrated into the molecular structure causing positive ef-fects on the material features like improving the fl exibility, the hardness or the smoothness. In case of our new Nanofl ex rods this means that you can lift 200 times the maximum casting weight without breaking the rod. So a 25 – 50 g model can lift approx. 10 kg.

The Nanofl ex rods consist of very slim blanks, are extremely light weight and have a very fast action. They are equipped with a high grade cork full handle with an integrated Fuji reel seat and original SIC guides.

SHADOW TELE RODSThe Shadow telescopic rods share the medium fast action that is characteristic for the entire series. Thanks to the thick carbon walls inside the blank, the diameter of the rods is kept as slim as possible which makes them look very high end. The full cork handle part is ergonomically shaped and looks extremely elegant. Something which is rarely seen at telescopic rods. The 25 and 45 gram versions are precise casting spinning rods for active anglers, whereas the 75 gram version is a very power-ful tool that is meant for bigger lures and bottom fi shing. The 100 gram rods can either be used for fi shing from the boat at sea or big carp and even catfi sh.

HAYASAKI RODSHayasaki is a fantastic predator fi shing concept with a young, fresh, innova-tive and trendy street fi shing character. The concept has been developed by the DAM product specialists with the kind expert help of Japanese bass fi shing specialist Nobu Oshima!

We have developed this series mainly because of two reasons:

First of all most specialist spinning rods with outstanding appearance and Japanese characteristics on today’s market are extremely expen-sive. And second, most of them are made for bass fi shing, are very short and often have completely different casting weights than we are used to in Europe.

Hayasaki rods are made out of high grade IM8 carbon and designed according to the latest trends in Japanese preda-tor fi shing. But, we have tried our very best to keep the rods affordable for every angler and we have adapted the length and casting weight to our standards. There are 11 rods in the series, where 7 are spinning rods and 4 are made for baitcast reels.

The Hayasaki rods have a special color code system, where the rod color indicates which casting weight class they are in (L, M, MH, H). Like shown below.

CROSSPOWER SEA RODS The CrossPower Winding technology already has a long and successful history in D.A.M., but adapting the latest step of development to a new and comprehen-sive sea rod series has also been a challenge for us!

The Impressa telescopic rods are robust and very easy to transport. At the same time we have tried to keep the diameter of the blank as slim as possible and maintaining the semi parabolic action that is characteristic for the Impressa se-ries. The 25 and 40 grams versions are precise spinning rods for active anglers, whereas the 60 and 80 gram versions are powerful “sticks” that are meant for big lures and static bottom fi shing. Then there are the 100 gram rods, where the shorter ones are perfect for fi shing from the boat at sea and the longer ones can handle big carp and even catfi sh.
