They wrote persuasive le.ers to the City of Joondalup highlighng the problem and seeking assistance with this

and as a result of their acon we have now resolved to install a dog waste staon. The P&C have kindly agreed to assist

with the purchase of a bin while Blair Bartle. (parent) has offered to install a device to hold the dog waste bags. The

their iniave.

Merit Certificates | Thursday, 5 May 2016 Congratulaons to the following students who received Awards at today’s Assembly

From Monday 30 May 2016 to Wednesday 1 June 2016 we will be holding Dalmain Primary School’s

annual Book Fair in the library. A detailed noce will be sent home next week regarding opening mes etc.

I am calling for any interested volunteers to help with the seLng up of the Book Fair on

Friday 27 May from 8:30am onwards. Even just an hour would be fantas.c.

I am also in need of a few parents/carers/grandparents to help at the cashier’s desk from 8:00 to 9:00am

on Tuesday 31 May and Wednesday 1 June as well as on Wednesday evening from 6:00 -7:30pm.

Could any interested parents/carers/grandparents please come and see me in the library next week or

phone the school on 9309 3711 to register your interest.

Book Fairs are a fantasc way to raise

well needed funds for the library as well

as encouraging the students to enjoy

the availability of different genres to

add to their home libraries. The

students at Dalmain along with their

families have really embraced the Book

Fair in previous years so I am hoping

that this will once again be the case.

Thank you

Dalmain Nature Play Space Busy Bee

Saturday 21 May from 11am

Please come and join us from 11am on Saturday 21 May to help install the logs and

mulch in the climbing logs area of the nature play space. We will need help with

digging postholes, installing wooden posts, steppers, cubbies, fire rings and spreading

mulch. A contractor will install larger logs in the days before the busy bee and we will

hire posthole diggers to assist.

We will also need assistance with providing wheelbarrows, shovels, rakes and spades for the busy bee.

A couple of days before the busy bee we will also need assistance with painng a mber protector on the

base of the logs to be buried. Please contact Amanda Wood for details (see below).

A sausage sizzle and refreshments will be provided throughout the day.

Could you please register your interest so that we have an idea of how many people may turn up on the day?

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

It will be another rewarding day that helps strengthen our school community with the ulmate aim of

providing a fabulous play and learning opportunity for all of our children.

Who to contact

TA 2 Vegetable Market

TA2 spend a busy Monday morning picking

silverbeet, beans, chillies and kale from the DUG to

be sold later in the day at their pop up market. The

students did a wonderful job encing customers and

promong the fresh, organic produce from the

garden. Money raised from the market will go

towards purchasing more compost bins and further

progress work in the garden.

Harves.ng and Healthy

Ea.ng for TA 5

“This week in TA5, we had a healthy eang

lesson and we learned about healthy bones.

A)erwards, we went to the Dalmain Urban

Garden and harvested some silverbeet for a

spinach slice. I got to chop up some onion and

sr the mixture. The ingredients we used were

spinach (silverbeet), spring onions, milk, rice,

eggs, zucchini and cheese. A)er that, we ate

some slices. It was okay. I took the spinach slice

back home and gave it to my mum. She really,

really, really liked it - which is good. I had a lot

of fun making really healthy food. It was

awesome.”

~ Theodin

“This week I got to go and pick silverbeet from the DUG (Dalmain Urban Garden). TA5 made a food

called spinach slice. It’s made from spinach (we used silverbeet), zucchini, spring onions, eggs, milk

(for calcium) and cheese.

Firstly, we sliced the spring onions and grated the zucchini. Then we mixed them together and

added milk, eggs, cheese and silverbeet. We srred it together and preheated the oven to 180

degrees. We poured the mixture into trays and put them in the oven for one hour.

I would have to say that if I was a food cric, I would give this four out of five because it was

healthy, enjoyable and quite filling as well.”
