Congress HostWill Strunk

Greetings skin care and spa professionals,

On behalf of Les Nouvelles Esthétiques & Spa and DERMASCOPE magazines, I am honored to welcome you back to the Arlington Convention Center for The International Congress of Esthetics and Spa, Dallas 2014. Here in Dallas, I know we will accomplish so much together. I look forward to the energy and excitement that awaits all of us on the congress floor! Attending this event is always refreshing for all industry professionals, giving us an opportunity to strengthen and grow our skills and resources. But it is so much more than that. It can serve as a powerful catalyst. When the energy and excitement of each individual is combined, a synergy is created, where the whole of the congress becomes so much greater than the sum of its parts!

This year’s lectures and demonstrations showcase the strengths and talents of some of the most successful people in our industry. Together, our General Session and advanced seminars fill two days of education you do not want to miss!

As always, every room in the Convention Center and the neighboring Sheraton Arlington Hotel is occupied with exciting classes and demonstrations! Look over the program and plan ahead to capture just what you need to energize yourself for a successful year. Just remember: Together we can do so much!

Retail revenue has a very high profit margin, making it a component of your business you cannot afford to ignore. Bonnie Canavino shares her innovative program for achieving successful retail sales. This seminar covers:

• How to teach and incentivize your employees to sell.• How to decorate your spa to boost retail sales.• How to create and implement a retail plan.• How to document growth and expand your retail department.

BuilDing the neW spA Cultureby Bonnie Canavino The spa market of the 21st century is experiencing many major changes that spa owners and managers need to be aware of. It is no longer enough to simply have a licensed staff, treatment rooms, retail products and a selection of herbal teas. Canavino discusses the big developments taking place in the industry, including:

• The fusion of organic, natural and botanical ingredients with single molecule science in skin care formulations.• The latest requirements in alternative and advanced certification for your staff.• A new type of phone consulting.

Make your spa the ultimate preventative health and beauty force of your community!

2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.

3:15 p.m. to 4:15 p.m.

Bonnie Canavino is the president of Red Cherry Group, the manufacturer of Organic Spa Brands. Canavino has worked for 35 years in the private sector, and also brings public industry management and training experience to the beauty business. She is passionate about growing the spa industry with integrity, and connecting with other professionals through spa consulting, management, career and product development.

* Prerequisite: Completion of the NCEA Training Manual.Purchase the Training Manual ($114) and get started with Step 1. Go to www.NCEACertified.tv.A Prep Class is an interactive study group that allows the candidate to further their knowledge development. It is an excellent way to “brush up” on skills, develop a nurturing mentor relationship with the instructor and provide more interaction than if the candidate only used the self-study method.utilizing the training manual format, the instructor reviews study objectives and knowledge reviews, provides interactive verbal quizzes and concludes the class with a sample written test. This sample test provides the candidate with an overview of how a question appears on the examination.

Bring your completed Candidate Application along with supporting documents to this session. If your Candidate Application is complete, your Authorization to Test (ATT) will be emailed to the address on your application within 7-10 days. The candidate must then call to schedule their exam within 15 days of receipt. See Candidate Information Bulletin for testing content and examination policies.

The National Coalition of Estheticians, Manufacturers/Distributors & Associations (NCEA) developed the NCEA Certified credential in 2007. NCEA Certified is the professional status awarded to a skin care professional that has met the competency standards as set forth by NCEA’s 1200 Hour Esthetician Job Task Analysis. It represents the highest skin care credential available in the United States, and adherence to the code of ethics of the profession. Those who choose to become NCEA Certified do so for a variety of reasons, including: • Commitment to their career and the industry • Desire to challenge their skill level and knowledge base • Commitment to personal growth and continuous learning • A move to another state where the hours of training are higher than what they received in school • State endorsement/reciprocity requirement to attain advanced licensure

The reasons also vary with a person’s age, longevity in the field and future plans. An added benefit is that NCEA Certified estheticians on average earn more than their non-certified counterparts. Those who are committed to personal growth are more likely to have the self-confidence to seek increasing levels of responsibility, and therefore higher incomes. Regardless of the reason–it’s a good investment in yourself! The NCEA Certified designation could mean the difference between getting or missing out on your next promotion or position. Certification better prepares the skin care professional for today’s job market, and helps you be better equipped to respond to the constantly changing demands and advances within our profession. Please visit www.NCEACertified.tv or contact the NCEA Executive Offices at 201-670-4100.
