Cistercian Preparatory School was founded in 1962, but the
tradition of Cistercian monasticism dates back more than 900
years. It is this tradition that makes Cistercian unique among
Texas independent schools.
Within a community, the Cistercians seek a life balancing prayer,
academics, and service. This philosophy permeates the small,
all-boys school in a variety of ways, including a comprehensive
theology program, a rigorous curriculum, exciting opportunities
in athletics and fine arts, and the promotion of voluntary service.
Central to Cistercian’s uniqueness is the Form Master system.
Each incoming class of fifth graders is assigned a Cistercian
priest or layman. For the next eight years, this Form Master
works closely with teachers and parents to oversee the personal,
spiritual, and academic growth of the boys in his class. He works
to provide a stable, supportive environment in which the boys
can strive for excellence, grow in responsibility, celebrate
diversity, and discover for themselves the importance of i
ntegrity, gratitude, and magnanimity.
Cistercian sincerely believes every boy’s spirit yearns for
knowledge and community. The school seeks to nurture and
develop this spirit through the challenges of adolescence so that
each young man may go forward in life enkindled by a love of
learning and service, and thereby enlighten the world.

Dallas International School (DIS) is a private school in the North Dallas area accredited by the French Ministry of National Education, the Independent Schools Association of the Southwest, and the International Baccalaureate Organization. It was ranked the #1 Most Challenging Private High School in the Nation in 2016 by the Washington Post. The school’s mission is to educate students of all backgrounds to contribute to a dynamic world with its internationally renowned curriculum, multiple language instruction, and exposure to diverse cultural views.
As the only private school in the Dallas metroplex offering a multilingual education via an international curriculum, DIS has 700 students in PreK2 through grade 12, located on two campuses. Preschool through 4th grades are at 6039 Churchill Way, and 5th through 12th grades are at 17811 Wateview Parkway. Both campuses are easily accessible for residents in Dallas, Plano, and Richardson.
Academic subjects are taught in French and English, starting at the age of two, to achieve fluency in both languages. Spanish instruction is the third language taught at all grade levels with Chinese and German becoming language choices in 6th grade. At the 9th grade level, students choose between continuing their education taught in the French language, which leads to the French Baccalaureate Diploma, or follow the English track, where classes are taught in English, leading to the International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma. Both diplomas are highly regarded and assure admission into virtually any university in the world.
Through a unique partnership with the University of Texas at Dallas, DIS upper campus students have access to their sports facilities and collaborate on projects with various departments. Exclusive scholarships to UT Dallas are offered to DIS students.
Dallas International School is secular and coeducational. The student body is currently 70% American, 20% French, and 10% from other backgrounds. Students receive a unique experience and understanding of cultural differences through the intermingling of the 50 different heritages represented by the school community. DIS has also developed the “Country of the Year” program, allowing for a year-long in-depth study of a specific country across all grade levels. This action further supports the DIS mission of cultural awareness.
DIS graduates have been accepted to both US and foreign universities such as Auburn University, Clark University, Emory University, George Washington University, Northeastern University, Pomona College, Purdue University, NYU, SMU, TCU, UT Austin, University of Pennsylvania, McGill University (Canada), Sciences Po (France), and St. Andrews (Scotland). Select DIS graduates have been awarded Southern Meth-odist University President’s Scholarships and named National Merit Scholar.
Our website is devoted to information about our unique academic system, extracurricular programs and activities at the school. We invite you to either of our campuses for a personal tour or to attend an admissions event to learn more about Dallas International School.
Dallas International School admits students of any race, color, national and ethnic origin to all the rights, privileges, programs and activities generally accorded or made available to the students at the school.

Greenhill is a coeducational independent college preparatory school for
grades PreK through 12 serving the Dallas community. We offer a
challenging and balanced curriculum, exceptional and committed teachers,
a welcoming and diverse community, and strong character education. But
that’s not what makes us uniquely special.
Our students do. Drawn to the unknown and motivated from within, they
ask questions that lead to more questions, think critically, and unearth
“the why.” They’re willing to make mistakes, voice opinions, and embrace
differences. They serve with compassion, work with tenacity, and develop
personal strengths for lifetimes of success. Success they define themselves.
They are inspired. They are inspiring. And it all starts right here, at

Believing in the limitless potential of girls, Hockaday develops resilient, confident women who are educated and inspired
to lead lives of purpose and impact.
Hockaday awakens the intellectual curiosity of every girl and develops an enthusiastic spirit and love of learning. With a strong commitment to character, courtesy, scholarship, and athletics – the Four Cornerstones upon which The Hockaday School was founded in 1913 – our girls are committed to excellence. Miss Ela Hockaday believed that girls should have a progressive academic environment committed to preparing them for higher education and for life in a rapidly changing world. A Hockaday girl wholeheartedly embraces the exciting learning and leadership opportunities both inside and outside of the classroom, and is empowered to think and inspired to learn so she will one day leave Hockaday, confident to meet the possibilities that await her.
Hockaday is the largest, independent all girls’ college preparatory school for day students (grades PK-12) and boarding students (grades 8-12) in the U.S. We are located on 88 acres in Dallas, Texas and have an enrollment of approximately 1,090 students. The difference at Hockaday is not just in the classroom, but in the combination of the community and culture we offer. Our all-girl education is a powerful and transformative experience.
The Hockaday School does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, creed, sexual orientation, religion, national or ethnic origin.

Parish cultivates these leaders and innovators by creating environments that develop and inspire.

Become a part of Parish Episcopal School and step out into the world as a Young Person of Impact who leads and serves with integrity and purpose.

Founded in 1976, Shelton School is a private non-profit, non-sectarian, co-ed school serving intelligent students with learning differences (LD) in grades EC through 12. It has been the turning point for thousands of students. Shelton’s individualized, structured multisensory academic program, especially written for LD students, challenges students by building the necessary skills. Shelton’s niche is providing a customized educational approach with positive, practical solutions matching the needs of LD students. For some, Shelton’s full school program is optimal for the duration of their high school days.
Shelton offers a comprehensive curriculum with a strong
academic orientation and a nurturing family atmosphere that considers the physical, intellectual, emotional, and social growth of each student. In addition, the school offers a full array of extra-curricular, fun activities. Whether students leave Shelton to return to a mainstream classroom or head to college, they are equipped to meet the next challenge. Shelton is about helping every child become the absolute best human being he can be, not just academically fit.
While the school is clearly the centerpiece of its mission, Shelton is more than a school. It also encompasses three other major components — a
speech/language/hearing program, an evaluation center, and an outreach/training program, all open to the community.
Shelton provides extensive training for professionals who work with LD students and their families. In addition, Shelton is actively involved with research at major institutions, with the goal of identifying and applying the best practices that will help children, youth and their families.

A T ST. JOHN’S WE IGNITE THE LOVE OF LEARNING. IT’S NOT JUST ABOUT ACADEMICS, IT’S IT’S ABOUT EDUCATION WITH SOUL.
St. John’s students do not sit in rows, quietly absorbing information. Instead, they actively engage with materials and ideas. They experiment and discuss and analyze and reflect. They become confident and independent through a balance of nurture and challenge.
Our curriculum is responsive to the needs of our students and is shaped by research, our experience and successful educational practices, providing a modern education within the tradition of Episcopal schools. Our approach fosters timeless human values, builds awareness of the larger world, and challenges students to understand their potential impact while cementing the essential core skills and concepts.
In the end St. John’s students grow into interesting and interested leaders. They are knowledgeable, well-rounded, articulate, confident and morally responsible individuals. Our students leave St. John’s more than “high school ready,” and later “college” and “work ready.” We set them up to be “life ready.”
THE LOVE OF KNOWLEDGE. THE COURAGE TO USE IT.
Since 1906, St. Mark’s School of Texas has provided
boys in grades 1–12 with exceptional educational
opportunities by focusing on the unique learning styles of
boys and promoting the many paths to manhood. Students
are encouraged to expand their intellectual, artistic, and
athletic interests free from traditional gender assumptions.
By nurturing the individual gifts, perspectives, and abilities
of each boy, St. Mark’s allows them to mature at their own
pace as they become young men.
At the core of the St. Mark’s experience is the close
relationship between gifted instructors and capable
students. Small classes (average of 15) and an exceptionally
low student-to-teacher ratio (8:1) allow students and
the School’s nationally acclaimed faculty to navigate the
educational journey together in a meaningful relationship.
Our community of learners respects the global diversity
of voices and perspectives. More then one-third of the
boys are people of color, and the diverse St. Mark’s student
body reflects a wide variety of ethnic, religious, and
socio-economic backgrounds. Generous donors, who are
committed to eliminating any economic barrier to attending
St. Mark’s, support the School’s endowment-based financial
aid program, which includes funding for middle-income
families. Additionally, the cost of tuition alone does not cover
the cost of educating a Marksman. More than 25 percent of
the operating budget is supported by philanthropic sources,
providing a scholarship to every student and working to
ensure excellence at St. Mark’s.
First-rate facilities equipped with cutting-edge technology
afford students every opportunity to explore academic,
athletic, and artistic interests. The unparalleled quality of the
campus facilities reflects the School’s dedication to the boys
and the community’s dedication to St. Mark’s.

Helping boys become good men.
St. Philip’s School and Community Center’s genesis is with the first African-American
Episcopalian church in Dallas – St. Philip’s Church – founded in the late 1940s. What
we are today is a direct result of the mission of the now defunct church’s congregation that
was committed to providing educational and recreational programs for children and youth
in South Dallas. Our School provides a rigorous education to students from Pre-K2 to 6th
grade, ages 2 – 12. St. Philip’s is the only school in the southern sector of Dallas to receive accreditation by ISAS (Independent School
Association of the Southwest). 100% of St. Philip’s alumni graduate high school, while 95% attend college. Our alumni count Harvard,
Stanford, SMU, UCLA, Howard, Morehouse, and Purdue among the colleges and universities they attend.
Our students begin each day with an uplifting chapel service. The core values of educational excellence, educational opportunity, self-
esteem, personal development, ethnic awareness, bridging racial barriers, and community service, prepare our students for an education
that far exceeds academics – these values prepare them for life after St. Philip’s. St. Philip’s offers a full day, curriculum based Early
Childhood program (PK-2 through Kindergarten) and dynamic Lower School (Grades 1st – 3rd) and Middle School (Grades 4th – 6th)
programs. Our highly trained and energetic faculty and staff know that the world is the classroom and through high tech classroom and
field exposures, we are empowering minds to think globally and to think big! Over 60% of St. Philip’s faculty hold advanced degrees and
long-term partnerships with such institutions as the University of Texas at Dallas and Southern Methodist University strengthens the
implementation of our curriculum.
Our Community Center is the heart of the neighborhood and allows our students to have hands on service learning opportunities year
round. We work in collaboration with dozens of organizations to provide numerous services needed by our South Dallas neighbors.
Additionally, St. Philip’s is the home of a MyChildren’s pediatric clinic, onsite daycare center and the Our Community Pantry, operated by
North Texas Food Bank.
St. Philip’s sets an expectation of excellence and is committed to producing compassionate, competent, creative, and confident servant
leaders for tomorrow!
