In June 2017, RoadTek is undertaking works to upgrade and resurface 1.8km of the ring road servicing the Daisy Hill Conservation Park day use areas.

Stage 2 The Directions Paper will continue to guide priority directions from 2017–2027. Future works and partnerships could include:

• Development of Ford Road block for public use, including park management planning, road and trail design and construction.

• Exploring opportunities with Traditional Owners to offer services such as performance events, guided walks and storytelling sessions.

• Introducing new technologies to raise public awareness and understanding of conservation priorities.

• Further upgrades of multi-use trails, implementing outcomes of trail planning study.

• Upgrading trail heads at Underwood Road and Avalon Road.

• New toilet block in upper trail head at Daisy Hill Road.

Undertake road planning and re-design study and works to address safety issues associated with shared use including pedestrian and vehicular traffi c.

To assist with delivery of Stage 1, a Park User Reference Group will be established and include representatives from tourism, recreation and conservation sectors, and Traditional Owners.

Working with local councils and tourism industry partners to develop a detailed management plan and visitor management strategy for the Koala Bushland.

Upgrade and construct visitor facilities to serve the day use area in Daisy Hill Conservation Park, replacing toilets, and renewing BBQ and picnic facilities, pathways, bollards, signage and Nature Play areas.

Revitalising the Daisy Hill Koala Centre to improve the visitor experience, focusing on interpretation and visitor orientation.

A range of community conservation projects, including fl ora and fauna surveys, weed management and revegetation.

Upgrade of the Paperbark Trail to allow universal visitor access.

Sustainable trail planning and work including a full trail audit and upgrades to trail signs.

Upgrade the existing upper trail head at Daisy Hill Road with new tables, gathering area and warm-up track.

Stage 1

Funded projects 2017 –2018:

Following community feedback, the Queensland Government has allocated $3.3 million to kick-start investment in the priority directions identifi ed in the Directions Paper. This will ensure the Koala Bushland is ready for locals and visitors to enjoy during the Commonwealth Games in 2018 and beyond.

These funded projects seek the balance of delivering some important improvements in the lead up to the Commonwealth Games, while also commencing the important planning and design works to guide future investment in the Koala Bushland.
