The area buzzes with wildlife as you take the Daintree River Ferry crossing to the rainforest town of Daintree.Keep your eye out for any number of marsupials, reptiles, birds and butterflies among the Earth’s oldestsurviving rainforests. Not to mention the infamous crocodiles lazing in the sun on the mangrove-lined banks orcruising through the water nearby. Catch all the action from the safety of a boat on a Daintree River cruise.

After you’ve spent some time on the river, head to one of the restaurants to enjoy the local spoils – freshlycaught barramundi is a must. Browse art and craft shops and soak up the ambience of this laidback villagebefore heading on to Cape Tribulation, the unassuming village where the frontier of the north really begins.Pass through lowland and tropical rainforest before reaching spectacular Coconut Beach. It’s here where you cango exploring at low tide or fish right from the edge of the reef.

A 4WD vehicle comes in handy for the drive through the Wet Tropics rainforest to more remote towns of the north.
